Hello and thank you for asking for our thoughts on our stay, The room we were led to believe was going to be my wife and I's Honeymoon dream getaway and first vacation together was a serious letdown. We picked this resort based on the pictures on the website offers of amenities and the what we believed would live up to the Secrets Resort reputation. Upon arrival everything appeared as described, it was not until we entered the room that there were problems, Room 1117 the jacuzzi tub had broken from the wall and was angled inward and was heavily and poorly caulked with goop, when we turned on the faucet of the tub and it shot out an abundance of grit and metal shards, we tried to clean it up, the tub had no drain plug so we placed the rubber bath mat on top to try and close the drain to fill the tub to try to clean it. After about 20 minutes of water running ,we still had NO HOT water and could only manage to fill the tub with about an inch of water as the tub had no drain and we couldn't get one from the front desk. The room was clearly neglected and not maintained, and was showing signs of black mold in multiple areas and it had an odor of sewage. Not only had we payed for an ocean view but we received a room way back in the shade viewing the pool... and way in the distance was the ocean if we stood on a chair to see it. We were determined to enjoy our stay and begged for a room change, we were told this" might happen" the next morning and to check back at 10 am the next mo

I have never given a poor review but I feel like others should be informed before traveling so far to a foreign country. The room we booked and payed extra for was not available upon arrival. We were informed that since we booked through Expedia there was nothing they could do to refund our money either, but not until the very last day. We became aware very quickly that the ocean view pool access rooms were actually available but only to guests who paid for their vacation elite package. We sat through their sales pitch for over 3 hrs pressured by several salespeople to give 60 to 100 grand towards this vacation membership! We finally walked away and learned very quickly we would not get our room we paid for.

Loved our King Jr Suite completely renovated great views of the Villas pool. Close to Bordeauxs restaurant. Love this place will be going back!!!

Overall the resort was nice. The beach was great along with the snorkling right off of the beach. Felt safe at the resort and leaving the resort. Employees friendly overall. Had a room with an ocean view and swim up pool. The outside of the room was amazing. Inside the room, not so much. Room was dated (not that big of a deal) and not cleaned throughly and had a list of items that did not work right away. This included no hot water, ceiling fan did not work, phone did not work, moldly bathmat and tub. Poor repairs had been attempted to the room previously and poor paint job. No way we were using the tub, it was just gross. We were on ground level (2 stories above us) and one night with heavy rain it was pouring through the ceiling in the bathroom. Didn't even bother reporting it because nothing would have been done. But there was a mold smell in the room in general. I liked the resort, but would not stay there again because of the room and the high pressure sales pitch they put you through as soon as you get there for the timeshares. They are EXTREMELY agressive on selling you on the timeshare or membership, whatever it is, we did not want to hear it and made that clear. We told them we had been traveling for 12 hours and really just wanted to go to our room and relax. The sales pitch continued for another 30 minutes. Conveniently, our room was not ready for 45 minutes after we checked in (which was after 4:00 p.m.).

The rooms were great the food was good. The staff is incredible!! Kenia from the buffet was so wonderful and Roger from the pool bar was spectacular!!!

Excellent staff who are very friendly and attentive, clean room, short walk to the beautiful beach with great snorkeling. Many excursions to pick from. Only downside was that the room was not ready at the check-in time and limited dining options. Would recommend.

The staff was very nice and it was pretty clean. The food was very mediocre. One fish dish was inedible. Flies on the buffet and limp cheeses. No drink menu at the bar. The room was very nice, but the grounds had crumbling concrete paths. The trees were well maintained but some of the landscaping had poorly maintained weird plastic edging. The bathroom in the shopping are building was very old. The lobby bar is the only one with seating, unless you are seated in the restaurant. Overall you get what you pay for.

Our room smelled like sewer and toilet clogged constantly. Got a new room that was a downgrade for no credit and WiFi did not work on that room so we had no acces to the app with all info for the resort such as menus, map etc.

This resort is in desperate need of an upgrade. Restaurants were incredibly limited. I am most disappointed in the fact that I paid for preferred club but it was completely pointless. I had to get up early on vacation to get chairs in the preferred club area, there were non preferred club guests in the preferred club pool or beach area, there were zero extra amenities that justified the additional cost. This resort needs a major overhaul and a more clearly defined area for preferred club guests.
