When this is combined with the love for nature that the host Mary shares with you and staying in one of the shepherds huts all conditions for a perfect stay are there. 「Great location with plenty of options for dining and sightseeing. The rooms are clean and the staff were friendly. Just know that they do not have air conditioning in the rooms. They will provide you with a portable fan if requested. Well worth the cost to stay in this beautiful area. 」

「Total gem and worth going a bit off the beaten path. Wonderfully renovated and welcoming spaces. On a cool night there were small fires in the fireplaces in the lobby and in the restaurant. The dinner at the restaurant was the best of our trip, and the included breakfast in the morning was also fabulous. Walkable little town with several historical points of interest, a Friday morning farmers market, and lots of locals at Joyces pub and bakery. We wished we had booked for more than one night. 」

「This is the prettiest hotel I have ever stayed in. There is restaurant/bar attached, so good. I think there is a buffet before 3 pm especially on the weekends. So much food. Breakfast, continental every day, some days full. Always delicious. Its hosts so many functions. It seems like there is always a wedding there.」

「Loved our stay here. Hotel is much bigger than what meets the eye from the street (so they were able to accommodate our request for 2 separate beds. I think we essentially got a free upgrade). It's in a good central location, with everything within walking distance. Travel tips: Book a guided tour of Kilkenny Castle if you can. You get too see amazing parts that are not available during self-guided visits. Have dinner/drinks/listen to live music at Kyteler's Inn. It's a 700 year old...
