  • The second oldest building remaining on The Ohio State University campus, Orton Hall was opened in 1893. It is named after Dr Edward Orton, Sr. who served as Ohio State's first president, OSU Professor of Geology from 1873 to 1899, and Ohio's State Geologist from 1882 until his death in 1899. Orton Hall is built of 40 different Ohio building stones. In the outside walls, these stones are laid in stratigraphic order according to their relative positions in Ohio's bedrock. The only non-indigenous to Ohio stone used is Indiana Limestone to build the front steps. It was chosen because of its high concentration of embedded fossils. The bell tower was dedicated in 1915 and contains 25,000 pounds of bells that can be heard regularly tolling across campus. Encircling the top of the tower are 24 columns with gargoyle-like figures which are restorations of fossil animals.

The hotel was great Room was clean. Breakfast was great. The lady at the front desk was wonderful. She made sure that if I needed anything, she helped me out with stuff. The only thing I didn’t like was the day when I was checking out check out at 11 and it was like 1110. The lady from housekeeping kept knocking on my door and I told her my ride was pulling up. She told me I had to get out and go wait in the lobby, but I was waiting on my boyfriend so he can help me with the bags And she told me I had to get out because they needed to clean the room but other than that, everything was wonderful. This is my second time staying at this hotel and I really like this hotel but after that lady treated me like that I don’t know if I will come back because I was just waiting for my boyfriend to come help me with the bags

The room was dirty—stains on the couch and curtain. The bed was very uncomfortable and slouched in the middle. The desk chair still had crumbs on it from a previous guest, and a mouse was running around all night. Also, the employee working at the front desk failed to return my ID to me when I checked in. I also forgot and left the hotel without realizing it. I've spent the past three days speaking with employees and trying to get them to mail my ID to me, but they so far have not said that they will do it. I need my ID ASAP because I am traveling over the holidays. I have also tried to raise this issue with your corporate office, but the automated phone system keeps hanging up on me. This is incredibly frustrating. I will never be staying at a La Quinta or Wyndham hotel again. I would like someone from the corporate office to call me and help facilitate the prompt return of my ID. My phone number is: 314.497.8461

I showed up to check into my room at 9pm. The room I was assigned was not cleaned. So I went to the front desk and asked to be given a new room. The front desk lady was very nice. But my new room there was holes in the walls, in the door, the shower was broken. As I stated above, the lady at the front desk was very nice and they were most likely under staffed. But I would never stay there again. Furthermore, the sign in the main lobby stated no cash was allowed. Yet they would only accept cash for the add on for a pet. It was very strange. I do not recommend this place at all. And I’m shocked that it stays in business. Avoid it this hotel if you can. Even if the low dollar amount is appealing.
