The Tomás Terry Theater (Teatro Tomás Terry) is a heritage venue in the heart of Cienfuegos’ historic center. The theater’s grand façade is a landmark in the streetscape for its eclectic architecture and lavish adornment. Take a seat in the gorgeous theater and experience the lively atmosphere of a venue that has witnessed some of the finest acts to tour through Cuba.

Approaching the Tomás Terry Theater from the spacious grounds of Parque José Martí, you’ll be perfectly positioned to take in the grandeur of the building’s façade. Admire the eclectic fusion of Italian and French influence in the building’s neoclassical architecture. Look up to see gold-leafed mosaics adorning the upper arches of the theater’s portico depicting the muses of comedy, tragedy and music, as well as an inscription of the theater’s name. The theater was built in the 1880s in honor of the Venezuelan-Cuban business magnate who dominated the Cienfuegos economy in the mid-19th century.

Enter the theater to see a marble statue of Tomás Terry that was sculpted by Tommaso Solari. Inside the theater, note the breathtaking opulence of the interior decoration. See magnificent Carrara-marble carvings, handcrafted Cuban-hardwood ornamentation and intriguing ceiling frescoes.

Take your place in the 950-seat auditorium. You might see a local band playing traditional Cuban music, as well as touring acts. Since the theater opened performers such as Anna Pavlova and Enrico Caruso have graced the stage.
