If you're not prepared, traveling can be daunting. But don't hit the panic button just yet. Follow these handy hints and enjoy a pain-free start to your vacation in Midway Atoll. What to pack in your hand luggage:
- Flying can be a comfortable experience if you carry the right gear. Firstly, you'll want a few basic toiletries, such as toothpaste, a toothbrush and some deodorant, a clean pair of socks and a good novel. Secondly, make room in your bag for your electronic devices, chargers, medications and maybe a comfy neck pillow too. Lastly, remember to take your passport, travel docs and some money.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
- Pack all your full-sized bottles of shampoo and conditioner in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on bag larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated. Pointed or sharp objects, like your beloved pocket knife, and products which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, spray paint and fuels, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
- The aisles of an airplane aren't the place for a fashion parade. Layer your clothing and go for shoes that are enclosed, flat and easy to take on and off.
- Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) can pose a risk on long-distance flights. It's the result of blood clots forming due to inactivity and poor circulation, so do some gentle foot and leg exercises in your seat and consider wearing compression socks.
