The trick to having a hassle-free flight experience is to plan ahead. First up, the essentials: passport, travel documents, credit cards and any vital medications. Next, take on board items that'll help keep you busy, like some electronic gadgets or a thrilling book. You'll also want to bring your chargers, a neck pillow and a pair of earplugs. Finally, don't forget to squeeze in toiletries like a toothbrush, facial wipes and a clean T-shirt.
Do not pack the following items in your hand luggage:
Pack all your full-sized bottles of hair gel and hairspray in your checked baggage. Any liquids or gels in your carry-on suitcase larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) will be confiscated by security. Pointed or sharp objects, like your precious pocket knife, and dangerous goods which are explosive or flammable, such as aerosol cans, flares and matches, are also prohibited.
What to wear on a flight:
Comfort should be your number one priority when deciding what to wear during your flight. Loose, breathable clothing is a wise choice, as are roomy, closed-toe shoes.
You're probably aware of deep vein thrombosis (DVT), a blood clotting condition caused by long periods of sitting. To lower your risk on board, drink lots of water, consider wearing compression socks or tights and move your lower limbs often.
First things first. Your travel documents and ID will need to be inspected by security personnel. Keep them at hand to avoid fumbling around for them.
Time to strip down. Well sort of. Your belt, jacket, keys and other small items, like your headphones, will need to go through the X-ray machine. Make the whole process faster by removing them before your turn.
All your electronic gadgets, including your tablet and phone, are also required to be scanned.
Want to bring along your favorite perfume? Not a problem. As long as it's in a container no larger than 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) and it's stored in a clear zip-close bag, it's OK to bring with you in your carry-on baggage.
It's also possible you'll be required to remove your shoes to be X-rayed, so wearing lightweight sneakers is always a smart idea.
Avoid taking prohibited items in your carry-on bag. If you have any sharp or pointed objects, put them in your checked suitcase. They won't be allowed on board and will be confiscated.
