Good place to stay, walking distance to Roaring river . Need to change out shower head, and update pillows, and beds . Staff friendly and helpful. Nice location.
Everyone, from the front desk to housekeeping, was so very nice. The hotel has a beautiful view from the top of the hill it sits on looking down into Roaring River State Park. The hotel restaurant has large windows along one whole wall to take advantage of the view.
I love staying at Roaring River, it's a great environment and very family friendly. This was the first time for us to be staying at the Emery Melton inn. It was an okay stay. Most of the staff was friendly with the exception of one staff member.
The price for what we got was 1000% not worth it, in any way!!! Extremely outdated rooms, the amenities were an absolute joke!! If I could, I would want at least 1/2 our $ back. No microwave in the rooms, no ice machine, the beds are so uncomfortable and squeaky. The tv was the size of lunch tray. Children running up and down our hallway from 10pm until midnight. It was one of the worst hotel stays we have ever had. Customer service/the front desk was mediocre at best, except for the lady that checked us in when we got there, and checked us out when we left. She was amazing!!! The only bonus is they let our disabled dog stay with us for an extra $20 per night.
The lodge is amazing, the room was comfortable. There was no ice available unless you got it from the kitchen due to the ice machines being out of service. Our fridge in our room broke while we were out for the day so we lost the few perishable items we had in it, had to get a new fridge. The TV remote didn't work properly, nor did the replacement. Overall the staff was very receptive to our issues and worked to resolve, no staff complaints at all! The food in the restaurant was outstanding and reasonably priced and the service there was excellent. Even with the issues we will definitely return.

Disliked: Staff & service, amenities
The room was nice and clean. NO HOT WATER ALL WEEKEND! Fished all day Saturday and unable to shower. Housekeeping did not make beds or empty trash. Staff was polite, but not very concerned for our discomfort
Room was very clean, staff was friendly, my only complaint and it definitely will prevent me from returning was…. I was abruptly awakened by the loudest siren! From tornado alley myself I thought my morning was about to be a disaster. It was the siren for the dam opening. Would have appreciated a warning that it could have even help me from panicking.
Staff came into our room after knocking 1 time to empty dehumidifier didnt wait for our response. Then returned the next morning at 9:00 am. Lucky I was up and dressed to open the door before he just came in. Electric plug in the bathroom was by toilet instead of by sink which I had to dry my hair over toilet. Not safe. Black bugs with wings were flying around in room. Not a fly who knows what type of bug thank God there was a fly scatter in the room to kill them. The bugs were in the room when we entered did not come in from the outside. No kleenexs in the room and Toilet paper was one ply. The mattress should have been replaced several years ago the worst deep caved in each side King size bed. They tried hiding it with a 4 inch foam mattress pad. Once in bed hard to move. Common area was beautiful and view from deck was beautiful.
Front desk and housekeeping staff were helpful and very pleasant! Loved receiving a pre-stay call from the lodge after I booked and appreciated the friendly welcome we received. Room was recently renovated and beds were very comfortable but the room was very dark (not enough lamp light) and there weren’t enough outlets near the beds for chargers.
The restaurant was comfortable and staff was so helpful. But the breakfast of scrambled eggs was unfortunately too greasy for me to eat.
There was also a lingering smell in the room and hallways - old smoke? damp, musty, mold? I don’t know but it did impact the pleasantness of our stay.
Thank you for allowing me to review our stay.
For almost $200 and NO hot water ruined the trip. Balcony area had bird droppings everywhere.

Liked: Cleanliness, room comfort
We booked a room with a king size bed and we got a room with two queens. The refrigerator did not work, nor did they replace it with a refrigerator that did work. The lobby area is very nice but they room was very outdated.
