Celtic Manor Resort is a large, impressive facility. However, the resort must have a high turnover in service staff. On several occasions, beginning with walking in the front doors (no one offering to help with luggage despite at least six luggage trolleys sitting empty), to booking facility services and dining (no knowledge of opening and closing times, or which restaurant served pizza), the staff both showed and stated they were new, and shrugged when asked simple questions. On several occasions, when they did answer, they gave incorrect information (pizza!). That said, the housekeeping staff were friendly and excellent, as were the ropes course and archery staff, which was great for our grandchildren. We have stayed at many excellent hotels around the world, and were a bit disappointed with our stay at Celtic Manor.
