First and formeost, much love to Gaia, our host. She is one of those quiet professionals who gets things done and doesn't make a fuss. Yet everything falls into place with little overt effort.
The facility is perfect, charming, rustic, and definitely built with the environment in mind. If you are in Cahuita for adventures, this spot will welcome you after a long day out with an inviting hammock on its generous patio. Plus our unit had a small, functional kitchen with a four burner propane stovetop and full-size (for Costa Rica) fridge. Beds were comfy, a/c cool, and the windows allowed for a breeze during the day. Shower big enough for a big dude, we enjoyed being indoors as much as out.
If you pick this place, you'll likely want to come back. We sure will. Thanks to all the staff and their commitment to preserving their beautiful environment.
Location is nice and convenient, close to ocean and national park. Issues we had (and hence 3 stars) are: rooms are very dark, very dim lighting, showers had no hot water half the time and when there was hot water then pressure in shower was very weak, dribble.
Breakfast was good and nature all around.

Lovely place!
Lovely place. The staff was very attentive and bfast was really good! Great location just a few minutes walk to downtown and the national park. Lots of wildlife including howler monkeys. (The monkeys would start their noise around 4am so if you’re a light sleeper, bring ear plugs!)

Good by local standards
Basic hotel with rooms in stand-alone huts. Rooms were clean but furniture could be improved.
Some things you may not expect:
- The road leading to the hotel is gravel, as are many roads in Cahuita.
- Hot water is often listed as an 'amenity' among hotels in this area, and this hotel had none. You may not need it because the weather is pretty warm most of the time.
- WiFi barely worked and only near the reception area (which is a couple of minutes walk from the rooms). We were aware that bad WiFi is quite common in Costa Rica, so this was not a surprise.
- Expect to be woken up by Howler monkeys.
- The private hammocks are a nice touch
It is a comfortable hotel if you're staying for a couple days in Cahuita and would prefer closeness to nature over walkability.
Lovely cabin style rooms, super clean, and comfortable. The pool was perfectly situated for animal watching and we saw 3 types of monkeys in about 10 minutes. Good breakfast and kind hosts. Would love to have spent more time here.
