"We ended up bailing after one night here and eating the cost. We were not able to get a refund. The hotel had some construction going on around the to be restaurant area. The pool was in the far corner, with only one beach lounger and algae growth. There were loungers on the roof, but absolutely no shade, so not a great place to spend the day. Our room was clean other than the bathroom, which had hair in and out of the shower and a dirty and wet bath mat. There were no towels in our room and we had to go get them late at night. The lock to our room was loose and was not secure. From the pictures, we thought there was going to be at least breakfast, but upon arrival we realized that part was not complete yet. There was a small bar, which had good vibes at night. The host was very friendly and his dog was great. Location is too out of the way to walk to the places you want to go. We had no rental car and relied on uber, which was easy and cheap during the day but very spotty and expensive at night. This place may be great for some, and likely will improve after the construction is done, but only stay here knowing it will just be a place to sleep."

"I would highly recommend staying at Guanacaste Lodge! It is a simple, older property that you can see is very well maintained. The room and property are extremely clean and comfortable. The hostess is very sweet and helpful and the breakfast is super! There is no shade at the pool or lounge chairs in midday so be prepared for extremely hot! There are covered tables for picnic. Super close to Playa Flamingo and very good food. Ate at the Tiki and Pleamar, both very good food & service and very close to the lodge."

"Great hotel overall. The amenities were great; there is a pool, common kitchen with gas stovetop, common eating area, lounge chairs, mini fridge in room and places to relax. There was a hole in our door which let in some insects and ants. The wifi was patchy in out room, but that could have been because we were the farthest room from the main office. There was a great restaurant next door with friendly staff. Unfortunately the mini-mart close by didn't have many food options."

"People are super friendly, rooms are big and clean, food at the all inclusive package is totally worth it. There are 2 main restaurants where you can have à la carte food and they have good options and variety. The beachfront advertisements are for real, you literally walk 20 steps to the beach"

"Fed rice and beans for breakfast. Was charged for requesting toast. Did not have a choice of how I want my eggs. It was an inconvenience to ask for anything different for breakfasr. Room did not have shampoo. I went to the market to buy shampoo. The pool was filthy. Don't pay extra for the swim out because you won't be able to use the filty, mosquito infested pool most of the time. They have daily passes for locals who are loud, inconsiderate and take over the pool with many screaming children with water pistols. Secure parking is limited and previous reviews complained that their rental car got scratched. Walk down to beach has 100+ steps and is unsafe. "
