  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. We would consider staying again!

The accommodation was more of a B&B with convenient location and nice hosts. We enjoyed our stay very much. The room was clean and spacious, breakfast in the dining area was nice with some locally sourced ingredients and the hosts were helpful giving us tips what to see, offering us to use the kitchen fridge if we needed it etc. We used the Park and Ride car park in the city which has a free regular bus to the centre and the car park itself is well priced. (The closer, free, parking alongside the river was full). Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would consider staying again. Thank you!

Beautiful Brugge B&B stay

Brilliant stay at this B&B as a family including our baby. We had plenty of space in our room and even had a smaller room joining in which we kept our luggage and our travel cot when our baby napped. The host was lovely and so helpful. She explained everything to us about breakfast service (which was so helpful for us as parents up super early and hungry). The host even provided a high chair for our baby. The location was perfect and very quiet but close enough to walk into the busy square. The B&B was modern with a classic twist. We would recommend for families and couples wanting to visit Brugge! We bought our car with us from the UK and parked it for free about a 15 min walk from the B&B. We dropped our luggage off and checked in and then parked our car and left it there for the stay, this was a little far for us having lots of baby stuff but it wasn’t a problem or an inconvenience - we were grateful to find a free space!

Hôte très accueillante, pro et sympathique. Nous a donné de bons conseils aussi bien sur le stationnement que sur les choses à visiter dans la ville de Bruges. La chambre est spacieuse, propre et bénéficie de toutes les commodités. Vu les commentaires, nous nous attendions à une literie très molle et, finalement, nous n avons pas été déçus et avons très bien dormis. Le petit-déjeuner est exceptionnel avec personnalisation en fonction de vos goûts. Nous étions à 5 min de marche du centre, bref un excellent séjour, nous ne pouvons que recommander.

Very nice bed & breakfast

Teresa molto gentile e premurosa. La location è vicina al centro storico. La stanza molto bella. La colazione a buffet con sottofondo musicale. Il parcheggio per l’automobile disponibile gratuitamente a un chilometro oltre il fiume. Un bellissimo balcone con vista sopra i bellissimi e caratteristici tetti di Brugge. Consigliata a tutti senza ombra di dubbi.

Tres bien . Maison ultra moderne. Un ascenseur a l'intérieur et une porte speciale pour les locataires qui permet de ne pas passer chez nos hôtes. Salle a manger et cuisine privée également. Notre hôtesse était tres accueillante et nous a donné plein d'info pour les ballades. Par contre literie bien molle. Un super petit bistro au bout de la rue

Walleke in Brügge liegt 10 Minuten vom Markt entfernt. Bei unserer Ankunft durften wir vor dem Haus parken und die freundliche Inhaberin erklärte uns sofort den Weg zu einem kostenlosen Parkplatz. Das Haus ist sehr modern, aber trotzdem gemütlich eingerichtet, sodass man sich sofort wohlfühlt. Die Besitzerin ist sehr bemüht, spricht gutes Deutsch und hat uns jeden Morgen ein tolles Frühstück zubereitet.

The house overall is very nice and comfortable. I though that our room was fine, had everything necessary. One big minus is the towels-they felt used up and we didn't get the best feeling using them (I am picky about these things so good clean towels make a difference in my stay). Bed sheets were clean. Breakfast was ok, the cold cuts, tea/coffee, jams and fruits were good, overall sufficient breakfast. My friends bathroom didn't have a door, curtain was used instead, zero privacy...Location was good. The owner of this b&b gave us major attitude when we arrived late in the evening to check in, yes we were late by a few hours but the rooms were paid for and we were driving in the rain to get there....should not have to hear anything about our "late" arrival. Although overall it was an "ok" stay, would not return there next time.

Lovely modern building in a nice quiet residential neighbourhood. The free shuttle bus from the station stops at Langerei, a 5 minute walk and its just 15 minutes walk from the Markt or along the canal to Rozenhoedkaai. The excellent folk museum is just round the corner, also the lace museum and the windmills are at the end of the road. We stayed in the double room on the first floor, there's a lift to a separate entrance. Room was very comfortable with a good size shower. The friendly hostess served an excellent breakfast and you can use the kitchen to make tea and coffee or even cook a meal. Would definitely stay here again!
