  • The Basilica of the Holy Blood is a Roman Catholic minor basilica in Bruges, Belgium. Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. The lower chapel dedicated to St. Basil the Great is a dark Romanesque structure that remains virtually unchanged. The venerated relic is in the upper chapel, which was rebuilt in the Gothic style during the 16th century and renovated multiple times during the 19th century in Gothic Revival style. Bruges is the capital and largest city of the province of West Flanders in the Flemish Region of Belgium, in the northwest of the country. The historic city centre is a prominent World Heritage Site of UNESCO. Along with a few other canal-based northern cities, such as Amsterdam, it is sometimes referred to as The Venice of the North. Bruges has a significant economic importance thanks to its port and was once one of the world's chief commercial cities. charming but..

This is a beautiful boutique hotel. It is not 4 star quality however. The staff is abrupt and not as friendly as you would expect. Our maid service was horrible. I had to ask for shampoo and toilet paper! They did not make the bed properly. We had to redo it ourselves. I would expect more from a 4 star hotel. The breakfast buffet is very nice, if you can stand the loud annoying music. Nice atmosphere, great location, rooms a bit too small for 2 people, even for Europe. I would not stay here again.

Nice room, Staff super friendly, breakfast was one of the best we had during our trip to Europe. The location is wonderful so close to museums and less than 10 minutes walk to some of the major attractions. Note that the elevator is really small and so are the stairs.

Property was very outdated, sheets looked dirty. Towels were stained and old. Left cleaning supplies in my bathroom after cleaning. Is definitely not a 9.6 hotel. I hate writing bad reviews. People were very friendly though.

Lovely hotel and staff.Room was small, but fine for 2 nights.Nicely decorated, good air con and coffee machine with pods. Safe in the room. We could get BBC 1. Only a couple of minutes walk to main square, but in a very quiet street. Breakfast was perfect, smoked salmon, hot eggs and bacon, freshly squeezed orange and even prosecco if you wanted it. Only niggles were the little wall lamps at headheight over the bed which were difficult to avoid. Also the pillows were a bit small.
