The staff was more concerned with visiting with each other than providing customer service. Desk clerk upon check was visiting with an other employee wasn't welcoming at all. We encountered this throughout our whole visit. The last day we were there I went to store to purchase a couple of items, the store employee ignored me and visited with another employee. I left without making my purchase. The evening of July 17 we did encounter a great employee in the bar/grill she had blonde hair and glasses, she was awesome. The other two women working with her were rude and lazy. Next time we're in Up we'll be staying at Kewadin, would never recommend this hotel.

Liked: Staff & service
Disliked: Property conditions & facilities
Good location and views.
Fairly nice accommodations, but the bathroom sink was crazed and brown around the drain. Non-smoking room smelled of smoke. Restaurant was close and the buffets were good.

Disliked: Room comfort
Fine for just resting your head for a few hours.
My husband and I checked in around midnight, the nearest fast food anything was about 13 miles away and appeared to close at 11pm so this hotel is not exactly close to anything in our situation. The room appeared to be clean, however, our air circulation in our room was terrible. You could smell smoke coming in through the vent from the casino. I woke up the next morning with a mild sore throat. I have asthma and bad allaergies and chose a non-smoking room and this didn't exactly feel like clean air.
Little disappointed in the hotel. Front desk person was not pleasant. Casino was fun. Disappointed no poker. Surprised drinks were free, but service slow.
The hotel and staff were very nice and the room was very comfortable. Walking into the hotel, you are greeted with an overwhelming wave of cigarette smoke. Once you got away from the front desk and casino, smoking wasn't allowed so the smell was not as bad. If cigarette smoke bothers you, this would NOT be a place for you.
The rooms were okay, beds were comfortable, the service staff was great. The only problem, and it's significant, is the smoke smell. The lobby is smoke free in theory, but the smell comes through from the other areas, the hallways are ventilated and smell okay. Our room seemed okay at first, but after a while we began to notice the smoky smell. We ended up running the AC all night (in 50 degree weather) to keep the smell out. I've stayed in casinos before, and most don't have this issue.
We booked one night at Bay Mills Resort and Casino in Brimley, having never been. It was a nice stay, clean, large room, comfortable, very quiet, with everything we needed, we stayed there the entire time. Meals were very good, staff very friendly and knowledgeable. We spent time at both casinos, and inbetween walked around the hotel area and relaxed. The only negative I might mention is that we are non-smokers, and had no idea the casinos you are allowed to smoke in. That part we did not like. Smoke was the only issue.
