"Our stay at Sugar Bay Barbados was absolutely fantastic from start to finish. The resort is beautifully situated on a stunning beachfront with crystal-clear water and soft sand, creating the perfect Caribbean getaway. "The Sugar Cane Club Hotel and Spa is an immaculately well maintained property. The gardens are a delight to see at this time of year, with a lot of the shrubs in bloom. The room was large, clean and the bed comfortable. The balcony was a great place to watch the sun set over the ocean. The restaurant is pleasant with attentive staff serving good, well priced meals. There were ample sun loungers around the property and the pool. The real strength of this place is the staff. Nothing too much trouble or too busy to share a bit of banter; all with a friendly smile. The only criticism I would make is due to the slightly remote location, the shuttle that takes guests to the beach and nearby Speightstown could run more often and later into the evening for those guests that want to explore the bars and restuarants, without having to specify a pickup time."

"We stayed here during the slow season, so the property was very quiet and peaceful, and the resident peacocks were an absolute gem that added a unique charm to the place. We ran into a few maintenance issues during our stay—including low shower pressure, a weak toilet flush, an unheated hot tub, and no lights in the pool—but when we notified the staff, they immediately offered to move us to a different room. We admittedly declined because we were already unpacked and settled in, but the staff was incredibly friendly and did everything they could to accommodate us. I also took advantage of the yoga classes offered on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, which were super nice. In terms of location, it is a bit of a hike from the beach—about a 20-to-25-minute walk—and the staff responsibly advised us not to walk around the area at night, though using an Uber is perfectly fine. Ultimately, it was an okay stay; we initially wavered on leaving three stars, but we decided on four because the staff was just so genuinely friendly, helpful, and proactive with their solutions."
