"Much as I would love to tell you how good the Clacks was I cannot. It looks good in the pictures and looks good from outside. Unfortunately due to some mix up I could not gain access, this after a 200 mile drive. I phoned the owner, luckily his number was in the details, and he told me The Clacks will remain shut for months and that hotels.com had not notified him of any booking. "The property was in a lovely location and handy for local amenities! Very quiet and lovely to sit outside and listen to the bagpipes on a morning! The only down side was the drive down to the property and the potholes if they were filled in it would have been a much easier drive in and out. "

"A lovely property which is well situated. It had everything we needed. Unfortunately there is a lot of noise transfer from the apartment above. When I tried to contact the owner it took 4 days to get an answer, despite me using the numbers provided. Overall we enjoyed our stay but would definitely stay in the top apartment next time."

"I had such a lovely stay at The Bothy. On arrival it is obvious how much care goes into to the cottage to ensure your stay is as welcoming as possible. There was supply of tea, coffee and milk amongst other items. Also supplied was a great deal of information on the local area, details on eateries including cafes and pubs and menus for local takeaways. "Friendly staff at check-in/out. The place is very basic and was last updated probably ages ago. It is more hostel than hotel, with residents using self-catering kitchen etc, hence the bargain price. Showers and WCs a couple of strides down the corridor. Both them and the room were kept very clean. Double bedroom a more generous size than expected. Mattress is basic with wobbly springs but hey...linen was clean and fresh. "
