The rooms were really clean and the staff was amazing and attentive. The hotel itself looks outdated and in need of some upgrades but still kept up pretty clean.
The gym had plenty of dumbbells, med balls and cardio machines; the view from the balcony was nice; and the location made it easy to get around the Treasure Valley in decent time.
The RedLion Boise Downtowner is a throwback to an era of the big, beautiful hotel lobby, nice hotel rooms, great customer service and ample amenities.
Being a "senior citizen ", I appreciate the relative ease of the moving in process with the elevators.
I like the old school feel of the hotel. It brings back memories of the time when the Red lion Boise Downtowner was in its heyday. I highly recommend it, especially if you're looking for a comfortable place to stay right in the heart of downtown Boise.

Breakfast was ok. Hotel not well maintained (torn carpets, elevator iffy, cigarette butts all over parking lot and sidewalks). Room was clean and ok

Liked: Cleanliness, staff & service
The room was clean and the bed was comfy. The property was definitely a little dated but it had a nice vibe. The staff were pleasant and accommodating.
I had a very pleasant stay at the Red Lion in Boise. The hotel was comfortable, clean, and conveniently located, but what really stood out was the exceptional service at the front desk.
The South African lady who checked me in was absolutely wonderful. I unfortunately don’t remember her name, but her kindness, professionalism, and genuine warmth made a lasting impression. After a long day of travel, being greeted by someone so friendly and welcoming made all the difference. She took the time to answer my questions, offered helpful local recommendations, and made me feel like a valued guest rather than just another reservation.

The staff was very friendly. Overall the quality of the hotel does not reflect in the price. The furniture and fixtures are super worn down, the pool and restaurant weren’t open the entire time we were there Thurs-Mon. But the room was comfortable and mostly clean.

The property is dated and could use a renovation, but the room was clean, the staff was friendly, and the continental breakfast was alright.
The Red Lion is under new ownership I think. They are working hard to bring back it's splendor. I appreciate the staff who really went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and help me. I know it's a work in progress making it back to what it once was. But they're really working hard. In the meantime, the room was clean. My bed was comfortable and staff gave me individual support to help me.

The staff at the front were nice and helpful. But the elevator had spit seeds shells for all three days I was there. The sheets in the bed had stains. The service of the front desk is why they’re getting three stars.

The staff were very helpful and kind, and parking was easily accessible. As a young traveler, I like to be cost effective when booking hotels and this one served its purpose for the price. The room was clean and the location is close to downtown. It is a bit of an old building so there was wear/ tear in the hallways, and it smelled a bit like cigarette smoke, but those were the only issues which aren't very big ones in my book. Overall my friend and I enjoyed our stay, and would stay again!
The beds had body hair in them, the locks on the doors were broken, there were no towels, the pool was green and had algae floating on top. We couldn’t stay and had to cancel and find a hotel down the road. The only bright point was that the hotel staff was super nice and cancelled for our entire group without any problem.

The minuses: not the cleanest property we've been to (perhaps there have been short-staff issues), for example the chair in our room appears to be original to when the property opened (years old, perhaps decades), the thermostat was basically hanging out of the wall (it worked, but still), everything felt very dated, showed wear.
The pluses: a FANTASTIC comfortable super-clean bed (we slept very well), even though the bathroom felt dated it was clean and had great water pressure in the shower, excellent friendly staff, and an exceptional breakfast (the best of all properties on this road trip). Good, walkable location to downtown activities and dining.
Although the staff was very courteous and kind. The lobby was very clean and well kept the hallways on the second floor the carpet had duct tape holding it together smelled of tobacco. The pool was not in good shape. The water was green.

This is an old hotel but it was clean. Staff were friendly. The breakfast bar was bare minimum. It was quiet. Beds were comfy.
