Rooms are VERY dated. Carpets have stains on, there are scuff marks etc on the walls. Although I don't think it was dirty, it felt dirty. I also think I was next to the boiler room or something because there was a consistent noise all night that kept me awake. I didn't have any food here so can't comment on that. General areas like the bar etc looked nice...nicer than the rooms, that's for sure.

This hotel is cheap for a reason for Black Friday deals. Just look at the reviews across all platforms, good luck in liaising with hotel staff to reach a solution, they do not care or want to listen. Do not fall for the fancy pictures, they do not reflect the reality. Book elsewhere to avoid disappointment.

Our room was very interesting, period lead windows, oak beams and a brick fireplace. Very cosy with a sumptuous Elizabethan style bed. Staff are friendly and helpful. Due to the age of the building some parts of the room are less than perfect, the floor is uneven and there were a few cobwebs on the light fittings but strangely that adds to the authenticity of the place. Lovely stay, great price will definitely be back.

Wouldn’t stay here again. Firstly on arrival good luck avoiding getting a tire change from all the pot holes in the car park. The hotel looks nice on the outside and whilst I appreciate the building is old, it’s not the quietest place. Noisy pipes all night, noisy staff very early in the morning. Showers were awful - you’d be better stood out in the rain than the shower. Lovely areas but a relaxing stay it was not.

Given a room which I didn’t think I asked for so either hotel or Expedia mislead me . Hotel rectified it for me We went down for breakfast at 9am and the full English was dry as though it had been previously cooked and left to warm and dried out. I arrived late, so I waited awhile to be checked in and called the phone but there was no answer, the lady that checked me in was kind. The room was absolutely filthy, hair on the toilet, floor, bath, sink, snotty bloody dried tissue next to the toilet, the room hadn’t been hoovered and there were marks all over the floor and walls also the tv did not work, re-signalled it twice then just gave up and watched my laptop as it was late. Felt the restaurant was over-priced, for my chicken and bacon tagliatelle anyway as the sauce was just liquid. But again; the staff were very polite and the grounds looked nice from what I could see in the dark.

The room was clean and well decorated. There was no air conditioning but there was a radiator with adjustable valve which was great for the evening when the temperature dropped. We attended a Soul and Motown event in Rick's Bar. The 3 course meal was nice, but we were a bit disappointed with rhe music as it wasn't what we expected. The breakfast on the following morning was excellent and the staff were very attentive.
