"I wouldn’t really say I’m a fussy person, I can put up with a lot and I’m quite resilient but my ‘stay’ at The Jersey Arms hotel was a very good way to force some impromptu character development and really make me contemplate a lot of my life choices. Being honest the receptionist was a sweetheart and did the best that they could, but the hotel was a different story entirely. From the moment I walked into my room the very strong potent smell of damp and mould hit me like a wall, before realising that there was thick, fuzzy mould growing in the bottom of the wardrobe, this was also accompanied by paint falling off the walls and dirty sheets. I can confidently say a hotel has never made me cry before but this one most certainly did. The receptionist was kind enough to move my room, which was of equal poor form as the first one. The same horrible damp/mould smell, dirty sheets and plaster and all sorts hanging off the wall. Whilst I was issued a full refund by the hotel an Expedia very promptly as I type this review I just want to preface, this review is in by no way a petty complaint. I would just like to warn others to think twice about booking this hotel, as the cheap price point does in no way justify the condition nor experience of this hotel. "

"The drains made the room smell. When not in use we had to cover the shower drain, the sink drains and shut any vents. Keeping the bathroom door shut and window slightly open. We were only there 1 night and tired so this was preferable than the hassle of staff investigation and potentially having to move rooms. "

"The room & staff were fine. Not fine is that my receipt says we paid for a free breakfast as an "included amenity" when per the guests guide in the room that only applies to bookings from 2024. Worse, it's STILL shown as an included amenity on hotels.com, more than 1 year after it became no longer available. I left a hotels.com message with The Plough on 4 Feb 2026 advising them, but have not had the courtesy of a response. We didn't receive several hundred pounds worth of breakfast during our 20 day stay, so we're quite unhappy"

"The room was good, the mattress was terrible, washroom vent was not strong . Lots of steam after shower. "

"The free Parking at the hotel was simple to register for after arrival. The room was spacious and the property quiet and intimate with just a handful of rooms. The staff are lovely, the housekeeping team were so chatty and welcoming too. The bathroom was also modern, spacious and having a bath in a hotel room at this price point is nowadays sadly a rare find, so fantastic to see. Pillows were a little flat for my liking, but sure there could have been other options if I'd have asked the staff. Only observation was, you can hear the bowling ally below when laid in bed, but this stops mid to late evening, so wont go on late to upset your sleep. The property is also super close to the M40 and just 10 mins from Bicester Village too if you fancy just basing yourself there for some retail therapy one day. Nice property and maintained to a high standard. The Baton restaurant was also well lit and cosy at night, despite so much glass. Would stay again if in the area.."
