This was an ok place to stay not far from Berlin central station. However, quite costly on this particular night. Staff were not friendly, room was not clean and only one bathroom available with a toilet for 8 people. I’ve stayed in similar places in Germany which were much cleaner with better facilities.

So far so good, value for money. But at the weekend, the hotel parking might be full. If you come late night, you might need to find another parking alternative.

Beds were hard with a very thin mattress. Bottom sheets were worn and had holes in places. Room was otherwise okay. Bathroom wasn’t particularly clean. Easy to get around Berlin and to main train station.

The hostel is a busy spot. We had a private room. It was clean and comfortable. There were scuffs on the walls from heavy use. I suspect that they are full every night. Staff and guests are very friendly and helpful. We slept very well. There was a heatwave and we were still comfortable without AC

We are here in the high season so all rooms are full. The floor and bathroom are generally clean. There are marks on the walls in our room from heavy traffic of guests coming and going. We were able to walk from the train station without issue

Overall A&O represents the modern hostel, cheap accommodation, but no spirit. They haven’t updated their self-check in to accommodate Expedia which would have helped them out as they were swamped at check- in, but the staff on hand seemed to manage. Their common area washroom was under repair and the shower head in my bathroom shower could only point to the wall and nowhere else. Everything else was good though, but don’t expect to meet a lot of people as they don’t push that aspect a lot.
