I stayed here recently and found the location to be very convenient close to everything I needed. The room itself was quite small, but since I didn’t spend much time in it, it wasn’t a big issue. What really made up for it was how safe I felt during my stay and how genuinely friendly and welcoming the staff were. Overall, a good choice if you’re looking for a well-located, comfortable place with great service.

The best part of Max Brown in the Canal District was the bed — very comfortable — and the beautiful views of the canals. Unfortunately, almost everything else was disappointing. The building is all steep, narrow stairs, so if you have any bags (or mobility concerns), you’ll need serious help. It’s definitely not handicap-friendly or suited for anyone with physical limitations. We had issues at check-in after extending our stay and accidentally booking the other Max Brown for one night. I took responsibility for the mistake, but the front desk staff member was insulting and unhelpful. The location is also far less convenient than advertised — not close to much of anything. Our room was by the entrance, and the smell of cigarette smoke from staff hanging outside regularly drifted in. This could have been a lovely stay, but as a frequent traveler to Amsterdam, I won’t be returning.

The location of this hotel is amazing! Super accessible from the central station, walking distance to the heart of the city but still in such a calm street that you get a break from the city chaos when you need it :) The staff were all absolutely so lovely and welcoming! The only downside would be our bathroom. We picked the bigger room but the bathroom itself was down a set of small stairs and the ceiling in the bathroom was super low. When showering, both me and my boyfriend had to duck our heads :D It was totally okay for a few days and the room otherwise was super lovely and clean. Just a bit tiny if you are above 170cm in height hehe

The property felt cozy and like a respite after a morning of travel. The front desk staff person welcomed us with a complimentary drink and assisted with booking a boat tour with a small discount. The room was comfortable (two twin beds) with a view of the canal. I appreciated the housekeeping service who provided new towels and made the beds. The location was walkable to everything we planned to see, and easily navigable to Centraal Station for train or tram service.

The hotel was perfect! The location, the rooms, the breakfast, the staff. It is located just 10mins from the Centraal station, so close to everything like canals, shops, restaurants. I loved the decor and the room was beautiful and comfortable, they did so well for a small space. The breakfast was perfect, boiled eggs, toast, croissants, fruit, yogurt, endless coffee 😊 the staff were so friendly too. I would highly recommend to everyone.

Spent 10 days there and it was honestly such a calm and relaxing stay. All staff were wonderful and took the time out to decorate the room for my birthday and added a few goodies. Very sweet! I just now realize I never actually got to see the garden or terrace! Bummer!Had I known which way to climb, I'd have spent some nights out with my hot chocolate! Lol. Next time! The staff were attentive, friendly and knowledgeable of places around the area, im sure i snnoyed them with questions and suggestions, but yhry were dsoo helpful and sleays with positive energy! Will definitely be back.

Second time of staying at this property and just as pleasant as I remembered. There is a very pleasant and relaxed atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff at reception. The room I was allocated was immaculately clean and very comfortable with a nice ensuite equipped with a very efficient shower. Stairs are steep in the property but there is fair warning of that in the hotel details. The buffet style breakfast was fresh and with a good choice of items. The hotel is convenient for Centraal Station, only five minutes walk away and very easy to find. Surrounding streets were very littered which detracted from the pleasantness of the general neighbourhood but that is hardly the hotel's problem. It is also very convenient for visiting many of Amsterdam's attractions and only a short distance from shops and restaurants.
