Quand je réserve un dortoir pour 25€, je ne m’attends pas à grande chose. Mais ici l’hôtel est délabré dès l’entrée. On m’indique une chambre miteuse (j’avais réservé l’option lit en dortoir de 40m2, ici il y avait 3*2 lits superposés dans une pièce de max 15m2), qui tout comme la salle commune sentait à la fois la transpiration (passe encore) mais également le tabac et le cannabis. Les deux sont interdits en intérieur et le dernier est carrément illégal. Ça ne semblait gêner nullement les 3 occupants de la chambre, qui paraissaient bien installés depuis quelque temps et bien s’entendre avec le patron. De plus les draps de 3 lits vacants avaient une couleur passée suspecte au niveau de la propreté. Bref devant ce manque d’hygiène évident dans l’hébergement, ayant peur de tomber malade, et la certitude de ne pas pouvoir dormir avec une pareille odeur, j’ai préféré dormir dans ma voiture, par 8°C.

Surprenant mais plutôt un bon souvenir.

Ambiance sympathique. Adapté plutôt pour les jeunes.On peut faire la cuisine. Si on a pas peur de dormir en dortoir, alors OK.

Werde wiederkommen

Lage zur Innenstadt war gut, das Zimmer ebenso. Die Betten sind eher weich, jedoch alles vorhanden für einen relativ guten Schlaf (störend die vielen Züge nachts). Dusche und WC sind sauber und gut. Den Gemeinschaftsraum habe ich nicht genutzt und hat mich jetzt auch nicht soo überzeugt (Küche mit genutztem Geschirr etc.)

Good German style hostel

Quiet time of year (Jan.) gave rise to dorm. solo occupation. Helpful receptionist, clean room, shower etc. Beer the right price. Second time of staying.

Keine gute Organisation

Eigentlich wollten wir nach unserer Ankunft direkt los und nur unsere Sachen abstellen. Der Mitarbeiter vor Ort konnte aber den Schlüssel nicht finden. Nachdem wir dann alle Schlüssel für ihn ausprobiert haben, hat er bei seiner Kollegin angerufen. Die hatte natürlich, warum auch immer, den Schlüssel für unser Zimmer in der Tasche und war einkaufen... Das hat unnötig viel Zeit gekostet und war sehr ärgerlich. Zudem sollte man beachten, dass dort auch Haustiere frei rum laufen bzw. erlaubt sind. Auch wurde mit großem Unverständnis und in vorwurfsvoller Art und Weise darauf reagiert, dass wir Nichtraucher sind. Anscheinend wollte man lieber Raucher dort haben.

Very kind staff

I really enjoyed my stay in Hostel Aachen thanks to exceptionally kind staff. The lady at the reception was extremely friendly and showed me on map where to go and gave me good tips on what to do in Aachen. One employee even shared his breakfast with me. Not all of the people working there speak English but I managed to communicate with them quite ok. The building is very basic but bed was comfortable. My room smelled a bit of mold and cigarette smoke probably coming through the air conditioning. I am quite sensitive and allergic but it didn't bother me so much that I would have asked to change rooms. All in all a very nice hostel.

Still at the top of my list!

First thing to expect at the hostel is to be welcomed with a tour of the facilities and house rules. The hostel left me a very good impression of the German standard. They wipe and vacuum every single inch of the room and facilities daily, especially the restroom. Thumbs up for the Housekeepers! And forget not Ivy, our very own Hostel Canine Ambassador!
