Richmond Hotel Premier Sendai Ekimae
10/10 Excellent
"Great property location near everything."
Matsushima Ichinobo
10/10 Excellent
"Ichinobo is a fantastic hotel with hot spring onsen facilities. We chose a room with a private open-air, full-sized immersion bath and it was well worth the extra price. The ocean and garden view from our private bath was magnificent and the bath area was designed for complete privacy so we could use the lounge reclining seats with complete freedom. We were concerned about the buffet-style dining because we expected a cafeteria-style setup with mediocre food, but it was completely different. There were many stations where various foods were prepared rapidly on request. The quality of the ingredients was very high, with the best fish, like toro, local delicacies, like beef tongue or rock oysters. The variety was wide as were the types (Japanese, French). The alcoholic beverages were included and noteworthy were the high quality and selection of the offerings which ranged from ginjo sake to French and Spanish reserve wines. The bar was open from 9.30 am to 8.30 pm and at night there was live music to enjoy with after-dinner drinks. Matsushima has many sights to see and everything is relatively close. Still, it was very nice to have the free shuttle buses for transport to and from the train station and to the dock area for the boat rides to see the famous pine tree covered islands. My partner and I had a wonderful time and recommend the Ichinobu highly."
Mitsui Garden Hotel Sendai

Sendai Royal Park Hotel
8/10 Good
"The location of the hotel is perfect, nestled between the historical sites for those wanting to learn a little more about Japan's history and the mall for avid shoppers. The weather in Sendai is beautiful in August...I was pleasantly surprised given this is one of the hottest month in Japan. Trees, thank goodness for this city of trees - bringing one closer to nature. Everywhere we walked, nature sounds were intense, so easy to forget this sound when one has spent too much time in the city. The hotel is beautiful and gave off the air of old European style, very easy to get lost in this hotel. The attendants to the front door personnel to the housekeeper were very kind and pleasant to speak. The rooms were very clean and provided necessary amenities such as toothbrush, wash towel, and facial care packet. I think the only thing that would be hopeful for female guests an extra towel for hair care (i.e drying) is helpful. Otherwise, the staff were very helpful and efficient. Breakfast at the hotel was delicious, offering a variety from Eastern (Japanese) cuisine to Western choices. I think the only suggestion for Sendai is possible offer some meat/beef options aside from the beef tongue stew which is delicious but a little more selection would be delightful. Otherwise, Sendai is a perfect hidden gem of Japan that is worth visiting."
Hotel Metropolitan Sendai East
10/10 Excellent
"The room was clean and comfortable. I really liked the Onsen that we were able to access directly from the property. I was really happy with the property, but it took pretty long time for check-in. I was guided to the self check in but it didn’t work and guided to the in person check in. A guest who was checking in front of us was taking long time so I had to wait. Also this was our first time to stay this hotel, and I was not sure how the Onsen ticket works, like if the ticket can be used for the checkout day. I needed to bring up the basic question that most guests might have. At the Onsen place, once we arrived the floor, the staff was just standing at the entrance and staring at us and we were a bit confused. So I needed to ask how it works. Then they answered. The both hotel and Onsen property were clean and very nice, but the customer service was a bit awkward."
