"Pros: Good value. Spacious rooms. Relatively large beds. Quiet area. Easy, ample parking. Hotel connected to a convenience store. Good free breakfast. Walking distance to Amaterasu train attraction. Cons: A bit further away from Takachiho Gorge, about 5min drive. No view from hotel. Laundry was a bit expensive, had to buy detergent from the front desk separately from the laundry machine fee. "

"We had the most amazing stay at Gekkoujyu, the service is impeccable, food is delicious and the rooms are beautiful. The private onsen and the onsens available by booking are all amazing! Highly recommend it for the most relaxing, pampering experience!"

"Waranino is heaven on earth. Unlike traditional ryokan, this is utterly modern and beautifully set in a wooded glen. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Someone is always there the moment you need anything. The breakfasts and dinners magnificent! Not only delicious but also plated with the eye in mind on pottery unique to the area. All in all a terrific get away spot "

"Simple and good. Room was clean. Location is decent. Some considerations: You’d have to carry your luggage up to the second or third floor. If you are 180cm or taller, the shower would be too small for you. Nothing particularly exceptional but nothing bad either. Good value place. "

"By far the crown jewelry of our honeymoon stays. Thowe the cost may give you hart burn the expense I would not trade for 2x the cost. It was the most spiritual stop on our trip, i felt like a royalty wail there. They have everything you need and they are located close to many cool attractions."

"I highly recommend this ryokan if you are visiting Mt Aso. We stayed at the two storied migi room with a private outdoor tub and an indoor jacuzzi. The space was immaculate and spacious. You must book the half board rate that includes the most sumptuous breakfast and dinner you will find anywhere. You will need to take a bus/train to reach the main Aso area but that we no issue for us. Every staff we met extended the highest hospitality we ever experienced. "

"A great little hidden gem in this area - we stayed here as a stopover to our next location. Room was clean and super cozy. Staff was very nice and helpful with us settling in. Location is very quaint and I loved all the statues decorating the place. The bath was super nice! Would recommend staying here and getting the dinner & breakfast experience - the food smelt so good! "

"A really lovely stay at a Japanese guesthouse run by a very sweet old couple. The house is in immaculate condition with charming touches everywhere. To boot, there is a marvellously manicured garden in the European style as well as a private furo bath. The guesthouse owners waited late for us and made sure we were well-taken care of.
