"Now, THIS is a hotel. Unlike my last stay (at the Moxie in downtown NYC) the Strand does not skimp on the amenities. The room was spacious and fully equipped, the bed comfortable, the service excellent. The location across the river is both extremely close to the heart of Limerick while not being stuck in the middle of it. I would not recommend eating at The River (the in-hotel restaurant) though. My meals were mediocre at best. But that's my only quibble. "

"Very nice stay for the area. The hotel itself you can tell is old, but has been recently renovated, particularly in the lobby. The dinner at the Brasserie was good but the service was slow, and no attendant was at the reception for the first few minutes when we arrived.
