「I love this, it is very unique and like a tropical paradise. Very clean, I even saw them turning out a room to clean it. Quiet sleep. Very nice full breakfast, scrambled eggs, waffles and pancakes, sweet rolls, and home fries etc, the only thing missing was biscuits and gravy. I highly recommend it. Very easy to get to and a few blocks to the ocean on highway 101.」

「Dirty and some flies in the room, there are hairs left on the bed and pillows,the wallpaper is broken, and homeless stayed at the hotel door who will ask you for money.」

「Stay was ok but not great like other reviewers said. We paid extra for "executive" but not sure what we got for that. The window blind did not work so we held it up with a big rubber band. There was dog hair on the window?? and husband has asthma. We told the manager... Bfst was good.」

「Douglas checked us in. He was wonderful. He takes great pride in Carter House and it shows. We loved the uniqueness of this historic hotel. It was like taking a step back in time, in a good way. The extra touches like the complimentary breakfast that goes above and beyond by an amazing chef and a complimentary cocktail at a cool bar each night was a welcome reprieve. We also appreciated the proximity to the Redwood forest. Driving thru the Avenue of the Giants was incredible. We will be back! 」
