We always book a food tour on the 1st or 2nd day upon arrival in a new city. In Tokyo we definitely needed to learn about the food and food culture. This particular food tour was recommended to us by friends who'd been 6 months prior and it lived up to it's reputation. We had a great time and sampled some amazing foods and beverages while walking around and becoming familiar with interesting places to go in Tokyo around the Shinjuku Golden Gai, Omoida Yokocho Ally, and Kabukicho district areas. Max was a lot of fun. But to be honest, we started with a Sake tasting tour ahead of time, by the same company with Megan, and it all became a blur. All I remember, and with assist from my photos, is that we had a great time walking around Tokyo eating, drinking, learning, laughing, and talking to new people. I highly recommend the food and sake tours.

We did not complete the tour as partly because it was raining very heavily. That being said the guide, Taiga, paid little to no action to us as he seemed to have bonded with the young male members of the group and didn’t show the least interest in what we expected to get out of the experience or what we thought of the experience at that point. Which led us to abandon the tour early. In addition the venues we did visit were dirty, smelly and completely unappetizing.
