What you can expect

Pompeii is the only archaeological site in the world able to show the appearance o fan entire ancient Roman city. Rich of traffic and pulsating with life, the city was crystallized by the famous eruption of AD 79, during which a rain of ash and lapillus enveloping everything: houses, people, roads, public buildings and objects of everyday life. Everything was as “locked” in a terrible instant. With an extent of about 66 hectares of which 50 dug in the ground (suburban areas included), Pompeii represent a unique heritage of architectures, sculptures paintings and mosaics. The ash that buried the city after Vesuvio's eruption in 79 a.C. allowed an exceptional preservation of the Roman city in its magnificent wholeness.
