See Rio de Janeiro's most iconic attractions on this full-day tour. Surmount Sugarloaf Mountain and admire the view, and then visit the Christ the Redeemer statue, an icon of the city. After lunch at a local steakhouse, marvel at the vivid work of art that is the Selaron Steps.
After pickup from your hotel, cruise along to downtown Rio where we will drive through the Sambodrome and Rio's downtown district before stopping at the Metropolitan Cathedral to admire its beautiful conical shape and its glorious stained glass windows. Then we will make our way to the base of Sugarloaf Mountain. Named for the conical molds used to transport sugar on ships, the 1,299-foot (396-m) Sugarloaf Mountain offers spectacular views over the city and ocean. Catch a 2-stop cable car up to the top, where you can admire sweeping vistas of the Guanabara Bay, and the Rio-Niteroi Bridge as the city spreads beneath you.
Descend the mountain with your guide and pause at a local steakhouse for a delicious and filling barbecue lunch, which offers prime cuts of meat as well as a buffet with numerous options of sides and vegetarian options.
After a delightful lunch, make your way over to Corcovado Mountain and drive up a rugged road to its peak, where the Christ the Redeemer statue overlooks the city. At an impressive 125 feet (38 m) from head to toe, the statue acts as a symbol of both Rio de Janeiro and Brazil and is considered to be one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
After spending your time at the top, head to the Selaron Steps, a vibrant 410-foot (125-m) work of art that runs through the Lapa and Santa Teresa neighborhoods. The 215 Steps, the work of Chilean-born artist Jorge Selarón, is covered with 2,000 brilliant tiles from 60 countries and is a tribute to the people of Brazil. Spend time contemplating the colorful installation before heading back to your hotel.
