Enjoyed our guide that walked us 10 minutes to boat docks! Very organized operation. We were given 30 minutes ride in canals and then given option to watch 3-D reality experience on history of Venice at the gift shop. It was great but should have lasted a little longer, only about five minutes long. Hardest part was finding starting location on side of St Marco Piazza. Had to ask several times to get over by the post office area but once found it was great!

This tour basically entails walking from the meeting point to the gondola service pier. Along the way, Elisabetta tells you about the history of the gondolas and the gondoliers. She also tells you tidbits about anything we see along the way. It is a shared gondola and they assign you the gondolas based on the weight/height of the passengers. They look at the best way to balance the gondolas. The ride is approximately 20-25 min, I'd say. Our gondola went through part of the Grand Canal as well as through small waterways in Venice. It gives you a good taste of a ride for a fraction of the price. You can take a private gondola ride almost anywhere along the canals for 90€ until 7pm and 110€ after 7pm. The shared gondola does make it awkward if you want to take selfies with your partner. After the ride, you then go to another shop for a five minute VR presentation of Venice in its early days.

Even though the weather was awful, the experience and the organisation of the event seemed chaotic, on arrival we were told the Gondola ride would be internal canals only due to the wind and rain, we were advised that we would have the tour and would have a waterproof cover , you had no idea what was going on or where you should be, it felt like cattle herding!! The tour turned unto a brisk 10 minute walk through shops and no stops to point out interest, at the Gondola we were herded again to a slot to get on, the seats were soaked we had no waterproof cover and got drenched, the Gondalier was trying to guide his Gondola using one hand whilst holding an umbrella, he lost control twice, once the Gondola tipped dramatically to one side and then he lost control and we crashed into a wall, a nearby workman came to help him, i did not enjoy the experience as i was more concerned about our safety and was glad to get off, it took the whole day to dry off.
