Molokini Crater… After departing La Perouse Bay, you'll head for Molokini, a short 20 minute ride from the bay. There we will generally offer up to three unique sites including the inside rim, the outer reef and the back side of the crater. By this time of the day conditions at Molokini are generally calm and most of the bigger boats have departed or are departing leaving plenty of room for uncrowded snorkeling.

Drift snorkeling the outer reef… is one of the many highlights of this tour. Imagine snorkeling one of the most beautiful coral reefs in the world drifting gently along with the current as your boat follows near by for your safety. Glide past a variety of butterfly fish, wrasses, black and pink tailed durgeons, all posing against a backdrop of beautiful coral only 3 feet below … truly a photographers dream!

For an exciting panoramic view, venture over to the edge to witness an awesome 200 ft. drop. It's like looking off the edge of the world!

Back Side… (optional site) Time and conditions permitting, another drift snorkel may be offered on the back side of Molokini, a favored dive site for advanced scuba divers. The depth here is about 300ft. but the lighting and the view of the vertical wall of rock, coral and fish is phenomenal. This site may also be offered as an alternative to the inside under certain sea conditions.

Turtlely Cool!… Departing Molokini, we make one more stop in Makena where we serve lunch (individually wrapped ham and cheese,

What you can expect

Sea Caves Along Kanaio Coast & Molokini Snorkel Adventure

Duration: 5.5 Hours Start Time: 7:00 AM (6:30 AM Check-In)

Discover one of Maui’s most diverse and spectacular ocean adventures on this 5.5-hour Sea Caves & Molokini Snorkel Tour. This extended experience combines dramatic coastal scenery, remote snorkeling, dolphin encounters, and multiple Molokini snorkel sites, all in one unforgettable journey.

Departing early in the morning, you’ll cruise along Maui’s stunning Gold Coast, passing Wailea and Makena en route to the remote Kanaio Coast. This rugged shoreline is inaccessible by land and showcases towering lava cliffs, arches, grottos, and sea caves formed over 200 years ago when molten lava poured into the ocean from Mt. Haleakala. Every turn offers incredible photo opportunities and sweeping views of Maui’s volcanic landscape.

From Kanaio, the adventure continues to La Perouse Bay, a protected marine area well known for frequent sightings of spinner dolphins, often including babies. These playful dolphins are famous for riding the boat’s wake and performing acrobatic spins just feet from the bow. On many occasions, snorkelers have even been approached by dolphins in the water—an experience guests often describe as spiritual and unforgettable.

A continental breakfast of individual scones and assorted fruit cups is served during this portion of the tour. When conditions allow, a remote snorkel stop such as La Perouse Pinnacle may be offered, featuring clear water and abundant reef fish.

Next, enjoy a short ride to Molokini Crater, where you may snorkel up to three unique sites, including the inside rim, the outer reef, and—conditions permitting—the backside of Molokini. By late morning, ocean conditions are typically calm and larger boats are departing, creating space for uncrowded snorkeling.

One of the highlights is drift snorkeling along Molokini’s outer reef, gently floating past vibrant coral formations while the boat follows nearby for safety. Expect colorful butterflyfish, wrasses, and surgeonfish just feet below the surface. Adventurous guests can peer over the reef’s edge to witness an awe-inspiring 200-foot drop into deep blue water.

If conditions permit, an optional drift snorkel on the backside of Molokini may be offered, featuring dramatic vertical walls and incredible lighting.

On the return, stop in Makena for lunch and a final snorkel with Haw
