Lake Valley was a silver-mining town that thrived from 1881 to 1893.
No longer in use, the Percha Dam sits below Caballo Lake largely forgotten and smelling heavily of algae. It’s upstream replacement has left Percha quiet and lonely with only a handful of visitors who still camp at the adjacent state park.
