Edinburgh and Lothian Adventure Vacations

We’ve stayed here a few times and really like the dog-friendly hotel and large rooms.

A perfect place to spend the week in Edinburgh. Friendly staff, great hotel room. Super convenient to have a kitchen with washing machine.

Pros: Good sized rooms and amenities with a generous breakfast hamper of assorted items (cereal, jam, milk, bread, biscuits, yoghurt, juice). Bathrooms and kitchen were clean and kitchen included dishwasher & washing machine. Room has good A/C. 24 hr ATM, Tescos & some restaurants located 3 min walk away. A Planetarium/Science Museum is located 5-7 min walk and is great for families with kids. Arthur's Seat/Holyrood park is a very scenic area that is great for nature walks and picnics located 10-12 min walk away. Cons: Some front desk were not friendly (junior), room needed maintenance in some areas e.g. kitchen cupboard doors not closing properly, leaking in apartment beneath ours etc).

Fantastic view over the west of Edinburgh from my room on the 4th floor. Incredibly helpful concierge team, and a great breakfast.

Stayed there a number of time due to convenience of location. Country Club with two golf courses surrounding the hotel. Public areas are looking a little tiered, although the Brasserie has just been redecorated.

We stayed at The Glasshouse (Glenlivet Suite) with our toddler from July 17–22. The hotel’s location is excellent—close to Edinburgh’s major sights but still peaceful, and the rooftop garden was a beautiful place to relax. Several staff really made our stay: Conall at the bar was outstanding with whisky knowledge and hospitality. Sam was kind and attentive, and a lovely staff member at breakfast gave great advice for a toddler-friendly park (Princes Street Gardens) and warmly engaged with our son. The room was well-appointed with thoughtful touches like whisky and chocolate, and the nearby car park with a 50% hotel discount was a plus. However, a few areas missed the mark for a five-star hotel. Housekeeping was inconsistent (we had to ask repeatedly for basic things like towels and trash pickup), turndown service was minimal, and room service was slow and underwhelming. Breakfast, while served with warmth, was overpriced for the quality. The bar could also benefit from light food options. We appreciated the thoughtful staff and setting—but consistency in service would go a long way in delivering the luxury experience The Glasshouse aims to provide.

Lovely hotel in a good spot for walking into town. All staff helpful and friendly. Slightly annoying that the shower head was broken after paying top price for the room. However we received a discount on checkout and an apology.
