Oddly, despite everything being quite clean, the first thing that happened was I stepped on a tooth on our floor in our room. So they lose points for that. But staff was helpful and they made sure i got my camera I'd left behind when checking out.

Horizon by SkyCity Hotel was excellent! On arrival I was greeted professionally and checked in seamlessly. Room was excellent and clean. Breakfast was good with decent selection. Conveniently located to downtown for restaurants and sights to see. Highly recommend this hotel.
