In general a nice stay. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The room had a nice aircondition (although the room was quite dark). The rooftop was nice with some nice views and the location is really good. The breakfast was a bit limited, but so was it everywhere else we stayed in Tanzania. Overall a really nice option for a few days in Stonetown.
Beautiful old wood architecture and friendly staff. Nice rooftop dining area. Spacious room. Strong AC and great hot water. Easy access to Forodhani and Stone Town sights. Must walk down a short alley from the street to get to hotel from taxi. I would stay here again!
Good value for the price and centrally located for an urban experience of Zanzibar. I spent a night there before heading north to the beach and my room had lots of character with beautiful sculpted wood furnishings. The bathroom was not renovated, unlike the room itself. It was functional but not inviting. No bottled water was provided which would be nice at least to brush your teeth (can’t drink the water in Zanzibar). The mosquito net had some holes in it. The staff’s English is very limited, which can make communication around basic things challenging. Nice rooftop.
Could be upgraded. Our tub needs serious repair or replacement. No instructions for hot water. It’s old. Safe does not work in the room. No elevator. Staff carried bags for us. They were excellent answering questions

The property is in a very old building so I expected the mismatched tiles in the bathroom where repairs were made, uneven floors, mismatched furniture and such. But one of our rooms had a broken A/C both nights and the other room the A/C didn't work the second night, one bed was missing a top sheet, and it just seemed like there were lots of small changes that could be made to transform this into a top-notch hotel. It was an interesting location and the views from the rooftop dining for breakfast was lovely and we appreciated the staff. I'm glad we stayed here because of the location but the stay would have been much better with air conditioning that worked so we could sleep more at night. Note that the hotel is on a street that doesn't allow cars so you will park and walk some distance with your luggage. We arrived at night and I'm thankful our taxi driver helped us find the hotel on foot as we were tired and carrying all the luggage for ourselves and our four children and google maps wasn't helping navigate.

Staff was friendly, but the hotel had no other guests, didn’t take long to find out why. No water in the rooms. Or cold water to be found in the hotel. Asked for water to the room, but none arrived. Stayed one night before switching to another hotel. Do not book here

Flott beliggenhet og hyggelig personal, men gammelt og slitt uten heis.
