DO NOT STAY AT THIS HOTEL
The photos and descriptions are not accurate- the property is rundown, damp, is not secure and judging by the locked fire doors is operating illegally.
You are required to leave the hotel by 9am or face a fine of £10
The reception area is full of junk, the front door is kept locked and is accessed by ringing a mobile number or waiting for a shabbily dressed man to arrive. There are only a small number of rooms actually used - one of the rooms offered to us did not have functioning lights.
The property has issues with damp - there was a damp spot in the ceiling in one of our rooms and further evidence of damp in the corridor.
The facilities are basic - you get a small bar of soap and 1 toilet roll in the bathroom, there is a kettle only . no cups or tea/coffee/milk.
On inspecting one of the beds there was a beetle under the cover and there were stains (looked like blood) on the sheets and mattress topper.
We did not feel safe at this property- we were the only guests at the hotel - the car park was deserted and run down, the reception is not manned, the fire escape was locked, the window hardware was broken, the doors were locked with a Yale lock from outside there were bedsheets rolled up in corridor at 7:30pm there was vacuum cleaner and other items against wall where the damp damage was possibly placed there to cover it up, there were people’s belongings on window cills along corridor.
We left after 10 minutes!
First of all we had to deal with a person by the name of John who didnt even want to listen to us, saying that he can only assist us around 17H00 until 20H00 and he said we can go and do refund, knowing that your policy doesn't allow to give back a refund. We didn't stay or spent a night there we had to go and book somewhere else. I'll never even recommend someone to go there. The place outside is not impressive not the same as advertised. I'll rather sleep in my park at any parking bay than sleeping in that place. As we speak my money is gone for something that I didn't enjoy, I don't know why Expedia is associating with such places I trusted you guys but now I think I must rethink about you guys as well.
Room is outdated, uncomfortable bed, not as stated in ad. Owner would not give a key for the front door had to call him to be let on. Holes in the walls. Cold shower. Dirty linen left in hall for days.
It was cold, damp, bathroom smelt, door was a yale lock which had no key so had to take my stuff with me when I went out. Someone walked into my room while I was in the shower! And when I got back at night there was techno music blaring out and shouting from next door!
Please read the other reviews.
I don’t want to seem like I’m the type to moan but wow... where do I start,
I pulled to to the hotel and parked (mine was the only car) and saw a note on the door asking to ring a number to get in to reception, I did.
A small man came who wasn’t making much sense but got me checked in.. started being funny with how cheap I got my room for and then asked me to fill out a form while telling me that if I leave the hotel in the evening I have to call the number again to get back in, but if it was after 9pm I wouldn’t be able to get In. He then said he would escort me to my room which he started to but then half was there down the hall he stopped and started to talk to me about different series he watches on TV.. this talk went on for (no lies) 20-25 minutes before I finally said “can we go to my room” he let me in the room which was locked by a dodgy looking yale lock and showed me around it where I pretended it was ok, he left and I literally didn’t want to touch anything. The ceiling and walls all had cracks in them and there was a dead spider splatted in one of the ceiling corners, I looking in the bathroom and it was absolutely filthy with yellow stains around the toilet seat and the cabinets were all broken. I pulled off the duvet from the bed and saw little black specs that looked like wildlife on it so I picked my bag up left the building and got in my car (still the only one there) and drove off and booked another hotel.
Room was cold. Hotel was empty.
No food or drink available. Looks to be struggling a fair bit.
Needs a full makeover and for its size, it should be packed.
Did not get any sleep the bed was not comfortable at all neither were the pillows
Cojld do with new beds there outdated and its the main thing when booking a room at least the bed should feel comfortable i would've got a better night sleep in my car
Moral of the story me and girlfriend beeing the only people stopping in the hotel that night tells the story never again Jose
The owner doesn’t employ any help at all and it looks like things are sadly sliding.
The owner was helpful and polite, but the rooms were cold and damp.
It is such a pity that things have got that way. It’s in lovely surroundings.
Well i turn up it looks like it is closed was only me staying there got to the door you have to ring a number to get let in.
There is a code for the door but he wont tell u so if u go out u have to ring him to let u bk in and need to be out of the room for 10am till 4.30pm this isnt a really a hotel when u have to be out of the room at this time i thought or it must be for cleaning no the rooms didnt get cleaned once when i was there. I have to has for a heater as the heaters in the room are not on.
If you travle just over the bridge in to the village there is pubs with rooms for 25 to 30 a night
It is the worst hotel we ever stayed at .its dirty smelly cold and damp wallpaper hanging off walls was there for 2 nights but booked in to premier as could only stay 1 night pay for 2 i will let family and friends know what a crap place it is
The room was clean but the bed was not at all comfortable and the pillow was hardly up to the name. We took a fan heater due to previous guest reviews saying it might be cold and we're glad we did. The room was a good size but like the rest of the hotel all of the fixtures and fittings are very tired and in need of renovation. You can tell that the owner is trying very hard to keep it running but its just too bigger job for one person.
A work colleague and I booked this hotel (me for only 1 night and my colleague for 3 nights)
We arrived and the carpark was empty, and there were no lights on my inside and the main door was locked. We moved to a side door and found a note with a number to call; which we did.
The owner answered the door, and after a few minutes came to let us in.
While checking in the owner said he had only made up 1 room, although we had book separately; he would have to make up another room.
Through out the check in process the owner told us about how he had 27 family members living in the NICE rooms upstairs; did this mean we had the horrible rooms? Oh yes it did.
We went out for dinner while the other room was made up.
On arrival back at the hotel, we rang the number on the door, let back in and we were showed to our rooms.
The rooms were horrible, all the locks were broken, smelt of damp, and were so cold.
The overall experience was horrific; do not stay here.
Misssold pile of crap states 24h reception / breakfast and nothing available a filth hole of a “hotel” that needs shutting down
Filthy rooms - no heating , mess everywhere you would be more comfortable camping in a field
Do not stay here. It is not what is described on the website. It is a one man job. There are no staff.just him. On arrival we were met with a locked door to which was attached a mobile number which we had to call so the owner could let us in. The place is dirty and empty. He told us we had to be inside before 10.30 pm else we were expected to pay 10.00 per person per hour after that and if we did not pay we would be locked out. The room- dirty cold and furniture shabby and falling apart. The curtains were drawn ( one was actually hanging off the rail) but we did not notice one of the windows had been boarded up. There is no hot water and no toiletries. The toilet stank of stale urine. The linen dirty and smelt. There were crumbs on the floor so carpet not hoovered. You are expected to leave yr key in the outside lock when you leave the room so its happy days for anyone wishing to take your valuables. For checkout we was told just to slam the door as it doesnt shut properly but he would not be getting up early so instead would check his camera. The place is disgusting dirty and smells. If you read the reviews take note its just a shame I did not have my camera to take pictures. Do not waste your money taking a room here you are better off sleeping in the street. The room was freezing so we called for a heater to which he wanted £25 for us to use but did not arrive. We tried to call him on his mobile for all the other issues but he didnt answer so we left an hour after arriving.

You get what you pay for - it's good value!
This Hotel gets a pretty unfair press! You have to remember that you get what you pay for and this is priced at the very cheap end of the market. With that in mind you get a larger than normal room. The bath and shower are well appointed with lashings of hot water. Here is the rest of the deal ...... the owner Dr Adam is also running the place on a shoe sting. He is an absolutely charming man with a dry sense of humour that some silly people may take offence to. I quite like his straight talking. Once you get past the dry demeanor he is very helpful and caring. There are no luxuries or toiletries. I doubt that he is going to run the central heating in the winter. It would cost a fortune to heat such a large place. There are plenty of convector heaters available. There is a problem with rising damp but it is not intrusive and certainly cannot be classed as a health hazard. There is a large Brewers Fayre a couple of minutes away if you need food. Massive car park. Very quiet and peaceful. There you go! People wanting a champagne lifestyle on a lemonade budget.

Liked: Cleanliness, room comfort
Convenient one night stay
We found this hotel on line 2 days before we travelled, and the room was listed as a 'no-frills' double room. We got this at a bargain price for a last minute over night stay, and didn't expect hearts and flowers. The owner booked us in efficiently and enlightened us on the history of the hotel since he has owned it. We were without towels, and tea/coffee but these were quickly replenished. The bed was very comfortable, and the room was clean. The heating was not on and it was a bit cool. The room had an additional electric heater which soon warmed the room up. Unfortunately the towel rail in the bathroom was not on, so this did mean this room was a little cool. For what we needed it for, and at short notice it did the job.
