"We absolutely loved our stay at Cow Byre 1 — it surpassed our expectations. The accommodation felt homely with lots of thoughtful touches, and you can really see the care that’s gone into both the property and the grounds. Our son especially loved the games room and used it every day. It was quiet, in a great location, and we still felt a real sense of space and privacy even though it seemed fully booked. "This is an attractive older country style hotel and pub which is good value. Lovely staff, excellent continental breakfast, and good bar snacks."

"Staff were very helpful and friendly. Food was good, but there could have been more choice. They made a lot of effort to keep us cool in the heat. The building is very old and a bit of a challenge to those who are less mobile. All the rooms are upstairs and there is no lift. However, it is a fascinating historical building and very sensitively adapted. Ideally situated to visit the cathedral and museum, which are only s few minutes walk away."

"Friendly staff. Excellent food offering. Good location. A shame about my shower control falling apart and an extractor unit that looked as though it had seen better days. In the heat, the air conditioning in the room was excellent and very welcome. It would have been nice if it had operated throughout the hotel. I will be happy to stay there again"

"The hotel is amazing and Its location has mountains of character The room was lovely and clean. The decoration was immaculate and thoughtful. The breakfast was wonderful with the options many and the quality very high the staff were friendly throughout and the parking excellent. The only thing that could be an issue might be air conditioning, but I’m saying that when writing this in the middle of a heat wave. The thick walls are a mitigation for this."
