Quirky comfortable room which was a converted farm building. Very clean, with the exception of the open beams which had a layer of dust on them. Good breakfast, however we sat and waited in the dining area and were unaware, until another guest told us that if we wanted a cooked breakfast we needed to go and order it at the bar. We went to the Stables for a Christmas party, the food was great and service was good, however that is more than can be said for the beer, there was only one beer on sale a few of our party ordered it, the beer was disgusting, tasted of vinegar and had to be returned to the bar, the staff did not seem to know how to change the barrel, or maybe were too busy to do it. There were no alternative beers only Lager and Pasteurised keg stuff, so unfortunately that spoiled the whole Christmas dinner experience and stay for us.

Our room was nice and clean but there was no fridge which really is an essential to keep our drinks cold. Parking excellent and property position very convenient to Whitby. The Stables is well presented and Christmas decorations just right, professional but still gave warm feeling. We hadnt appreciated that this establishment was basically a pub with rooms so probably our fault. Not keen on having to go to the bar to give food order. Choice on the menu was limited. For the price paid for one night at over £200 not sure that was good value. Perhaps I am old fashioned but I did not like seeing the girls on reception/behind the bar with nose rings. I dont think that is professional and frankly quite off putting when dealing with food. Surely they can remove these objects whilst at work. Also a complete lack of charm on their part. No attempt to interact, enquire about our day or the food. Sorry but if you ask for feedback then you might as well know how we really feel. Would we stay again? Probably not. Apart from that we really enjoyed our visit to Whitby. We had a lovely day exploring the Abbey and quaint lanes and shops.

The staff were friendly and the room was nice and spacious and well equipped but the walls were a bit too thin and we could hear a lot of noise from adjoining room. Also some areas of the room were quite dusty and for the price expected a bit more cleanliness.

Everything was great except out room was right next to a main road with big lorries going by and there was a fan in the room that was humming all night there was nowhere to request another room as the staff all leave at night so no sleep for me.

Very welcoming, clean, comfortable and modern. We had a really nice room with direct access to a patio with great views. Near to Staithes, Whitby, Robin Hood’s Bay and the moors. Parking was good. Staff were friendly. Good breakfast. We should have stayed longer. We will return.

Staff were excellent, really friendly and helpful. Room was ok but biggest let down was the food, breakfast was poor both days we were there, and evenings meals were bland and dry. Expensive for the experience we got, which is a shame because hotel looks great and is in a good location to visit Whitby.

Good room, but not a very good breakfast!

Room was clean , service was good. But room was really hot so had to put on the fan. Also breakfast wasn’t very good! Sausages didn’t look cooked, not browned at all, fried eggs were rock hard and coffee was stale and tasted awful. Other guests said the same! :(

Clean room, not a king bed in mezzanine room as stated in description. Only a double, evening meal ok. Stay not worth the £200 a night price tag. Breakfast was included but ate out the 2nd morning as it was average at best
