If it's your first time traveling during the COVID-19 pandemic, you'll notice plenty of new restrictions and rules in place. Follow these tips and make your trip to Western Sahara a smooth one:

• Find out if any travel restrictions apply to your origin and destination before booking anything. Also check if there are any requirements you'll need to follow on arrival, such as proof of a negative COVID-19 test.
• Keep your face mask on even during airport screening. A TSA officer will ask you to adjust your mask for identification purposes.
• To reduce the potential of cross-contamination, position your boarding pass on the scanner yourself and then hold it up for inspection. Do not hand your boarding pass directly to a TSA agent.
• One container of liquid hand sanitizer is now permitted in your carry-on baggage. It must not be larger than 12 oz (350 ml), and you'll need to remove it from your bag at the X-ray machine for screening.
• To minimize handling during screening, put items such as your phone, wallet and keys into your carry-on instead of the bins.
• Separate any food you have for X-ray screening. Food items often trigger the alarm. Putting them in a clear plastic bag and into a bin reduces the need for a TSA employee to handle and inspect your belongings.
