Awful service from bar and restaurant staff. Place is in desperate need of refurbishment as walls are cracked, water stained and falling apart. Was told to take a seat for dinner in an empty dining room and so I sat for 15 minutes in the empty dining room for dinner and didn’t get served, so walked out. Ignored at the bar when checking in. Breakfast offering was good. Plenty of hot and cold choices.

This hotel is in need of some serious TLC. Good location and the cooked breakfast was good for £12.50. Shower was dire and the room was very warm. When we asked if we could have fan we were told there was one in the wardrobe, that was a fan heater and made more noise than it did move air. With the windows open it was survivable if a bit loud in the room. The bed was nice and comfortable. We understand that it’s an old building so no complaints on the creaky floor and winding corridors but the rooms and especially bathrooms are in need of help.

The staff were great, the breakfast was delicious, and the location was spot on. Having onsite parking was a great bonus. Although generally clean, the decor was tired looking. I would have added an extra star if the presentation had been better. Overall, good value for the money.

Clean but dated and in need of a refurb, (currently 2 years overdue - according to the locals). The spy hole was missing so was possible to see into the room from the outside. Room had 2 rooms which was very welcome with kids. Unfortunately only the window in the main room opened although a fan was provided, just a shame it was a particularly hot summer night. The bathroom was spacious and had everything you needed but the soap dispenser required 2 hands so could be improved for accessibility. Skipped the breakfast as we were up and out at 0730. Staff were very welcoming and helpful.

The pub side was pretty good, the staff were lovely and really friendly. A special note to the young blonde haired lady who was on reception when I checked in for my 2 night stay. She appeared to be very organised and hard working. The hotel was not as good as the pub. This is the second greene king hotel I have stayed in over the last few weeks. The room was very dated, lots of plug sockets but no USB chargers. TV on the wall was from the mid 2000s, again very dated. The lovely looking ‘sash’ windows did not stay open on their own and I had to prop them open. A big plus was the shower, super powerful. If it was not for the staff, I might have requested a refund or a discount
