We discovered a wet brown stain on the floor when we checked in and the only other option to change was a twin room. We accepted to switch but this felt like a downgrade. It was dusty, the TV wasn’t working — in general, amenities were lacking.

Pet Friendly With Enclosed Leafy Outdoor Space
Wonderful location near Saffron Walden and beautiful Audley End House and Gardens. So much nicer than staying in one hotel room. Pub is right next door with delicious food. We didn’t use the nearby train but you could take it to London or Cambridge for the day.

The Regent Aparthotel
The hotel was clean and comfortable, with very helpful and friendly staff. Breakfast was a good continental breakfast (best croissants I have tasted in a long time), and they provided bags etc. for grab-and-go.
