While the room was lovely and very quiet, I was really disappointed upon arrival during the day (2pm actually) to find the front door locked, after pushing a bell to get some help accessing the hotel and waiting quite some time for a response, I was greeted by a self checkin kiosk, not the manned reception area shown in the photograph. the 3 out of 5 stars is only brought down from a 5 because of the lack of service at this property

Sebel Thorndon

Sebel Thorndon great location to catch the ferry to Picton in the morning. No need for a restaurant due to just needing a bed to stay and parking for our car. Disappointed we could have parked for free on the road and paid $30 for hotel parking (check time restrictions). Bed, king size pillows, so comfortable, great shower and products. Bonus was the coffee machine. Hotel is well appointed, we highly recommend.

Outstanding service I arrived late and they were still available to help me get in my room. It was a wonderful experience. They even made a special bed for my six-year-old son, even the welcome card with a beautiful little teddy bear such a wonderful memory they have created for my family as we are moving from Auckland to Queenstown we drove all the way from Auckland took us 10 hours And needed a nice place to stay to recover to be back on a road the next morning. I am very pleased and feel very touched by how nice everyone has been at the Sebel hotel. Whenever I’m in Wellington, I will be sure to stay here. I recommend highly recommend anyone staying here whether they’re with family or alone. It’s a great location and beautiful place. Very clean and very modern beds are super comfortable and staff were really helpful and professional.

Reception staff friendly. First night rubbish bin still full from previous person. Stayed 3 nights, normally put my dishes in washer each day but left in a hurry one day and came back to still half full cold coffee etc. Had to wash dishes so i had a clean glass and clean mug to use. Bed was only made properly on one side. Clearly needed vaccum. Probably wouldn't stay again for that price
