Top Watamu Hotel Reviews

Mvuvi Lodge Watamu
10/10 Excellent
"the property is very clean and all the staff are extremely friendly. They made me feel very relaxed and safe. Most days I had the sole use of the pool! Perhaps the chef could do with a few pointers and it would have been great to have a small fridge in my room which was lovely and clean. was well cared for and really enjoyed my stay....5 gold stars!"

Turtle Bay Beach Club
6/10 Okay
"Our stay wasn’t amazing had minor issues in the room. Shampoo/body wash were empty, toilet wasn’t flushing properly, drain in the tub was slow and would collect lots of water during a shower, the phone didn’t work. Restaurant staff were ok but our favorite were Lillian, Eunice, Ali and G from the beach. Bartender did take quite a bit to make the cocktails, food was ok more local dishes would’ve been great. I know it’s outdoors but the fly’s were just obnoxious and annoying. Beach was amazing, views and quiet. Went to relax and we sure did enjoy our surroundings. "

Sun Palm Beach Resort
8/10 Good
"The room is beautiful and the staff is very kind and friendly "

Kobe Suite Resort
8/10 Good
"Kobe Suite is a nice smaller hotel, with two great pools. Limited lounge chairs around the pool area.
Restaurant on site for lunch and supper was okay, one night I found a live bug in the olive they acted quickly to resolve the issue.
Breakfast buffet is nice.
Overall we would stay again if needed "

Visiwa Beach Resort
10/10 Excellent
"The property is an ideal spot for people who don’t want to be in the busiest spot but also not far away from other amenities."

Medina Palms
10/10 Excellent
"Returned to this great hotel in a wonderful location. The staff are extremely friendly. Good food and amazing pina coladas. "

AHG Lion Beach Resort
6/10 Okay
"AHG Lion Gate Hotel has a lot of potential. The food was very good, and the staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful. It was also fascinating to see how many languages they spoke, which really added a welcoming and international feel to the place.
However, the alcoholic drinks were disappointing—most tasted watered down, like a mix of juice and very little alcohol. For the price of the all-inclusive option, it’s surprising that it ends at 10 p.m. After that, you have to pay for drinks, and paying €7 for a cocktail that isn’t well made feels unreasonable.
There are also small details the hotel could easily improve to enhance guests’ experience, such as adding irons and full-length mirrors in the rooms, since the bathroom mirror is quite small.
On the positive side, the nightly entertainment was great, and the pool area is lovely, though it closes early at 7 p.m. Watamu Beach is beautiful too, but note that the tide doesn’t come in until the afternoon—mornings are low tide with very little water.
Overall, it’s a pleasant stay with friendly staff and nice food, but a few simple improvements could really elevate the experience."
