Disappointing Experience Despite a Beautiful Hotel
The Churchill Hotel is visually impressive — the lobby is elegant and smelled great upon arrival. The room I stayed in was spacious and well-decorated. However, the experience was overshadowed by poor service and lack of hospitality.
From the start, the staff wasn’t welcoming — neither over the phone nor in person. When I called to ask about the OpenKey app, I was cut off mid-sentence with a blunt, “It doesn’t work,” followed by them hanging up. At check-in, there was no eye contact or greeting. Instead, I was wordlessly motioned to the side, and when asked for ID and a credit card, the staff extended a hand while continuing to stare at their monitor — no acknowledgement or courtesy.
While the room looked nice, it had a noticeable damp or humid smell. The hallways also felt stuffy and could benefit from proper ventilation rather than artificial air fresheners.
Unfortunately, the lack of basic hospitality made the stay uncomfortable. I won’t be returning.
