"I recently travelled to Wellington for two nights to attend WoW. The James Cook was very conveniently located for this event and was only a quick walk to the event venue. One of the lifts down to Lambton Quay was undergoing maintenance for the three days we were there and this did create some significant queues and wait times around busy periods. The room was a good size and generally clean, although a deep clean of the room is needed as there were definitely areas of the room that were noticeably neglected - especially under the bench in the bathroom and the corners of the rooms, under furniture etc. I was also disappointed that although this is a hotel, there was no mini-bar. There was a mini-fridge but it was empty and after a long day and a long flight, this would have been welcomed. The noise levels from other guests in the corridors was also very noticeable, so there are some noise-proofing improvements that could be made. Otherwise a generally pleasant stay."

"Overall, good value for money. Room was spacious, bed very comfortable and view of city was nice. Shower was strong and hot. Location was excellent. I wish reception had warned us at check in that the tvs only got limited Sky and NO Freeview, as we spent ages one evening trying to watch our favourite TV1 programme after a tiring day. Quite frustrating!"

"Staff was incredible helpful and accommodating , the room was roomy with microwave, dishwasher, washing machine. Great for somebody staying for a descent stretch of time. Beds comfy, overall great value for money. However the room is getting a bit tired and probably could use with an update"

"The staff were excellent- very helpful and efficient- absolutely first rate. The hotel is in a good location for shopping and WOW. The room amenities are good - very nice having a tumble drier (for the towels)! No view, but didn’t expect one. No bar or restaurant but don’t need one as so many great places to eat and drink nearby. A nice, functional hotel in a great location and wonderful staff."
