Large pool, great breakfast, nice staff. Gym, vending machines. Ground level rooms have a Patio door facing parking lot (some patio doors face the pool), convenient for loading/unloading the car. Nearby restaurants, stores within walking distance. Town itself seems a little rough, however at the hotel, it's been quiet and feels safe. Would stay here again.

Easy to get to off of I 15. Very clean room, had all the essentials. Property is definitely older but well maintained and cared for. Breakfast was busy when we went, but again all the essentials were there. Would stay again if passing thru.

California Inn was nice. Easy to find right off the freeway. Check-in was fast and staff was friendly. I wish they would provide liquid shower gel rather than just a small bar. The room was also very hot and took a few hours to cool off. It is also an older building, so no elevator.

It was pretty good, although I could tell that they were trying to conserve energy out there in the Mojave Desert because the lobby isn't cool and you have to cool your room down when you get in (after a slow check-in, but they had some free lemonade, but they also had non-vegan candy made from slaughterhouse scraps.) Even though it was an oven outside, the pool was cold, which was jarring. I actually got cold from swimming even though it was so hot. I liked that there was a huge cactus outside my balcony. They could improve the free breakfast by making it all vegan non-GMO. That would be a better way to conserve energy. Non-vegan food is environmentally destructive, famine and drought inducing. I walked to the Dollar Tree to get some spring rolls to heat in the microwave. There was a strung out paranoid fool who started harassing me accusing me of following him, but I told him off. But inside the Dollar Tree there was a friendly guy who wanted to buy me a Snapple and pay for my spring rolls because he was trying to get cash back to give to the guy outside asking for change.

The dog walk area had not been cleaned in a very long time. Was full of crap. I expected the dog walk area tp be an extension of the facilities. Plus.. The manager tried to charge me a "PET" fee. This was not disclosed on the website. I refused to pay it. Will not stay there again !!

This hotel is quite rundown. The furniture is old and stained. Room key didn’t work all the time. Sheets were clean. Washcloths were stained. Breakfast was just ok. We received a small paper tag when we checked in that showed there would be two people eating breakfast. We were never asked to show the tag. While sitting there eating breakfast a man on a skateboard came in filled his pockets and took a cup of juice then walked out the door. I originally thought he was staying there till he skateboarded away. The young girl working the breakfast could NOT have confronted him safely. I’m assuming the homeless sneak in all the time. I’ve seen worse however I would not return to this hotel.

We stayed at the California Inn in Barstow, and honestly, it exceeded all expectations. Clean, quiet, and safe—which is all I really wanted—but it gave even more. The room was spacious, the bed was super comfortable, and the AC worked really well (a must in the desert heat). The staff was kind, check-in was easy, and it felt like they actually cared. You can tell they take pride in running a good place. It’s not fancy or flashy—it’s grounded, welcoming, and real. I travel a lot, and this is one of those rare spots that makes you feel settled, even if you're just passing through. Will definitely stay here again.
