Gorgeous property in a beautiful area of the country. Lovely people running it. Generous sized rooms, great pool and lovely gardens. Highly recommend this hotel.
What a wonderful property. The grounds were exceptional and we loved the views to the river and quick walk to the village. Such a great base to visit several “Less Plus Beaux Villages”. Our hosts were so lovely and accommodating and we sincerely appreciated meeting other guests at an aperitif party. Highly recommended for a romantic stay for a couple or a large family reunion.
Somewhat grand house with a lot of character. Nice view of the garden to the hills and river just outside.
Spacious room and bathroom. Everything worked well.
Ouffa (the host) was gracious and friendly.
Easy and pretty walk into the nearby small town.
We loved everything about our stay - the room, the bed, the amazing selections and made to order items at Breakfast. ...and while it was a bit too cool outside to try out the pool, relaxing in the gardens and watching the boats and canoes go by on the river was one of the highlights of our trip. Ouafaa was the hostess with the mostest! We will definitively be back!
We also loved that we could walk to 6-8 restaurants on the path from the garden for dinner - so nice not to have to drive and find parking in La Roque-Gegeac.
Lovely ambience and setting. The gardens are a delight. The personal touches and attention to detail, together with superb breakfast made it an enjoyable and special few days. Merci.
This is a gorgeous manor house in the heart of the Dordogne Valley next to the river. The views are spectacular and the gardens are beautiful. Be sure to get the breakfast because it is a feast of local flavors. Wonderful hosts who can make excellent dining recommendations. Worth the money for a once in a lifetime experience.
Manoir de la Malartrie was so spectacular. Absolutely stunning hotel and grounds, with warmest, most delightful proprietor. The room was absolutely beautiful, situated on the river and within a two-minute walk to charming town. The breakfast was FABULOUS, by far the best B&B experience we had in our 3-week trip. We will be back.
The hostess proprietor is extremely helpful and kind. Our room was extremely comfortable. (It was the “Malartrie” room). The breakfast was very nice and the dining room is elegant.
There is a pool. It’s about a 10 minute walk into town. The grounds and garden were very spacious.
We loved everything about this property! Plan your trip to southern France around staying HERE. Great romantic getaway in a 1500s chateau with all the modern conveniences and comfort you need. The owner greeted us in the driveway, showed us around, took excellent care of us, and offered so many extras including aperitifs on the back lawn. It's very walkable to town via an adorable path away from the road that meanders through ancient homes, past a castle, across from the Dordogne. This stay turned into one of our favorite memories of our 2 weeks in France
This was one of the most beautiful places at which we’ve ever stayed. The Dordogne are is stunningly gorgeous. The manor was built right onto the rocky cliffs with wonderful views of the river across the road. The gardens are terraced up against huge boulders so you almost feel like you are in Yosemite looking up at the rocks. The owners were so warm and welcoming. They recently did a major renovation and we were able to stay in one of the brand new suites with stunning views. Please do not forgo the breakfast. The owner cooks everything herself and she is an amazing cook and swerves up an array of savory and sweet dishes. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer.
Recently (Sept 2021) traveling in the Dordogne, we needed to make a quick change to our bookings, and were very fortunate to stumble upon the Manoir de la Malartrie. We have had the opportunity to stay in many excellent hotels around the world, and the Manoir ranks as one of the very best. Ouafaa and Daniel have restored the chateau to a level of exceptional comfort, and are gracious and welcoming hosts. The rooms are spacious, and beautifully designed, with fully modernised design for comfort. The breakfast provided by the hosts was lavish and delicious.
This hotel was excellent for a short stay, and I am sure would be comfortable for a couple of weeks. The hotel, of outskirts of La Roque Gageac, is a great jumping off point to tour the Dordogne
A great hotel, and already looking forward to our next visit
The Manoir and the property are gorgeous. The grounds are beautiful, and the setting is very quiet and peaceful. In addition to that, the owners are wonderful people. Our every need was tended to, including answering our questions about touring the region. I highly recommend paying for the breakfast each morning, as it was lovely. If you rented a car to tour the region, you want to stay here. This is a central spot to drive to Domme, Castlenaud, Beynac, and Sarlat. You can walk from the Manoir into La Roque Gageac. Across the street from the Manoir is a canoe/kayak company, with transport to whichever location you want to start your canoe trip from on the river. In sum, a 10/10 experience.
Wonderful hotel with pool in the heart of Dordogne touring country. Friendly hosts, comfortable room with large shower, fabulous breakfast, 5-10 minute walk into a beautiful town on the river with restaurants, some shops, and the departure point for river boat tours. Canoes can be rented across the road.
