"Room was beautiful and the staff was so accommodating! They were right on it for anything you needed. The property is easy to navigate, quiet, and so beautiful! The food is super good! Dinner was different every night. My husband and I loved the variety :)"

"The property, which is in a natural preserve, needs better upkeep. The rooms are dated and our bathroom had lots of mold, which is totally unacceptable. Also, the rooms are spread all around the property through trails and you go up and down the mountain to reach them. This, in the suffocating heat and humidity, is exhausting. There is no A/C anywhere in the property except the bedrooms. The restaurant is ok, but again: no A/C, limited options. The one shining pearl in all this was the SPA. I had a relaxing massage with Fanny, which was fantastic."

"Breakfast was very fresh and many options. Staff was so helpful and friendly. Valeria at Guest services gave excellent advice for local spots. Beautiful landscaping, clean rooms, sunset views that can’t be topped! Extremely walkable location to all shops and restaurants, beaches. Would 100% return to this property again! "

"It was wonderful to have a few pool loction choices. You could select a quiet area or sit near the swim up bar and be in the center of all the action. The staff made every effort to meet your needs and keep everyone entertained. "

"The rooms were clean, bed comfy, rooms looked recently updated. The staff was 50/50. Some helpful and friendly, some irritable and useless. The only restaurant you could order from a menu was the steakhouse which was good. All the others were buffet style and basic resort food. The pool was nice, the property was well kept and the watersport team was amazing. You can get PADI certified there. WARNING don't expect to be able to charge things to your room with the "resort credits" That was the biggest joke of the trip. I went to the spa expecting to do that and they told me I could get $25 off of the service I wanted. Basically they are coupons towards the spa, scuba/snorkeling and pics in the pool. The level of disappointment was off the chart. The $780 in "resort credits" was over half the reason I booked through Expedia. When I asked the guy I checked in with if I could use the credits at the spa, he said yes. Never explaining where or how they worked or that I needed a code to access them through the app. I checked in Thurs and wasn't informed until Sat how they worked. By then I'd paid for a scuba and missed it on $60 off. I used none of them. So make sure you get the code. Also book your excursions through Tours with Frank the Tank. Our tour was the Unique volcano tour"

"Our review as a Canadian couple in our late 30's, no kids: What we liked: - The beach was fabulous, felt safe and secure to leave items unattended - Small boutique feel, quick walk to the restaurant and beach. Nice atmosphere and well kept. - Monkey sightings outside our door, and other cool wild life on the premise. - Friendly staff, clean rooms. - Locals gather on the beach for picnics on the holiday we were there, which made for a nice atmosphere What we didn't like: - Rooms were a little dated (beds not very comfortable, couch stained, old smart TVs not compatible with streaming apps) - Rooms didn't feel very private. - Rooms didn't feel worth what we paid. - Pool very small and can quickly fill up with 2 - 3 families. Tended to attract families with little ones - Food at the restaurant was good, although dining options are limited and the restaurant expensive (example two desserts and a drink came to $60 CAD). Overall our stay was average. It seems you're really paying for the location/beach access, as opposed to a high end hotel experience that one might expect when paying over $500 CAD a night. Food options are limited aside from the hotel, although there is another restaurant down the beach that we enjoyed. Other meals we bought to store in our room or drove into Playa Del Coco, which is about 15 min away. Highly recommend having your own vehicle if staying here."
