We took the direct GWR train to Oxford. The guided tour of Oxford Castle was very enjoyable. The Botanical Gardens in January was not worth the visit/price due to time of year and half of the greenhouses being closed.

2 hour walking tour was well worth it - got history, understood what we were looking at, a glimpse into culture, tidbits of Harry Potter filming locations for the kids - we all enjoued.

Visit the colleges of Oxford.  There are excellent old pub.  The first coffee house in England is in Oxford.  There are some good restaurants in the city.  The city has excellent theater and classical music

We followed the GPS but I’m still not sure we even saw the university.
