Ideally situated on the beach we went to the partner hotel to ise the pool. Thecstaff were super helpful. The hotel dogs were lovely too.
Great location, easy walk to the beach, a little bit noisy but the noise quietens down by 10pm at this hotel, cannot say the same for the neighbouring bars. Loved the location and swimming in the sea was fantastic which meant not having a pool was fine. Staff are super friendly and made our stay with them all the more enjoyable.

Location! Location! Location!
The location of the hotel was just as it was described! We thoroughly enjoyed the stepping out of the hotel room to the beach. The walkability to the local little shops was a pleasant surprise.
The lady at the front desk was profession yet friendly and extremely helpful. She spoke and understood English very well.
We loved the very friendly waitstaff, and the Restautant on the beach was awesome!
The staff who work here are really wonderful. The place is right on the beach, which is great. We ended up staying an extra day because we loved it so much. Definitely very surprising from what we were expecting.
Room and the location are excellent just near by the beach. Service and hotel facilities are great. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Thaproban beach restaurant is the best restaurant in the area and dining at the beach is wonderful experience. Best and delicious food. Worth for the money spent. Diffidently we will be back for next vacation.
We really enjoyed our stay in Unawatuna mainly because of the hotel and the staff. Great location by the beach.
Try to avoid the rooms with balconies giving directly on the main terrace, it could be noisy at times. They have sister companies where you can attend yoga classes in the AM and spa treatments. They will bring you to those locations in Tuktuk. They arranged oue Safari in Udawalawa and we loved it. Their food is a bit pricy but excellent. Keep up with the good customer experience Thaproban beach house team :)
We initially booked for 4 nights and decided to stay an extra 4 nights... It was so relaxing!
Absoultey beautiful, room was amazing, view stunning, attentive staff who where friendly helpful and just lovely. Food devine, amazing service. Shout out to Indu who looked after us and his great recommendation of some some of the most yummy seafood. Definelty a hidden must stay location.
I've been in Sri Lanka for a week now and this is the nicest hotel ever, the best word describes my feeling is "family", the staff is very friendly and very helpful, it's on the beach, the restaurant is very excellent in it's service, and the food is delicious.
Room service is the best, and I will recommend this hotel to anyone coming to unawatunna.
The property is in such an amazing location - right on the beach! All the staff were super friendly and accommodating,The hotel has a restaurant on the beach (so great ocean views) and lit up by lanterns at night, which also serves fresh seafood at dinner!
We chose this hotel as it was right on the main beach of Unawatuna, we had a very good experience overall. From the best sea food, comfortable rooms, friendly staff and the best location. I would recommend this hotel to anyone who loves the beach and swim in the sea as this is the best location in Unawatuna.
I booked this hotel on Expedia. It was horrific!! Do not book this hotel ever if you can help it. The people are so unfriendly and unaccomadating. I don’t even give it a half a star.
If you've got a bit more money in your budget this is a lovely place to stay. Generously sized rooms with big super comfortable beds. Staff are really attentive without being over the top and in your face. Tasty breakfast, you will not go hungry! Personally not our favourite beach location in Sri Lanka as the sand was quite course and the sea rougher making it harder to have a relaxing dip, however they do offer you free use of their pools at two other hotels close by. We didn't use the pools so can't comment on them. Overall lovely stay at a nice hotel.

Nice cutesy hotel at the beach
Room opens right onto the beach, which is great.
We had booked superior rooms which are actually on the ground floor (hence the partial sea view), which was a bit of a bummer.
Rooms on first floor are better.
The current rating is extremely misleading. This hotel should not be priced at more than thirty or forty dollars a night.
First off, there was an awful sewer smell throughout the entire lobby area. The rooms were nothing like the photos. Not only were they riddled with mosquitoes and moths, but there were giant gaps in the balcony doors not allowing them to close properly. The canopy over bed had holes in it and the light fixtures were rusted. Most importantly, the shower had no hot water. After leaving it running for five minutes, you may get like warm water. The pressure in the shower was on existent. The wifi was not working for one of the two nights that we were there. Even when it was working, it was going in and out of service.
Very friendly staff, large clean room with AC right on the beach, we had a room facing the sea fantastic! The food in the restaurant could not be faulted and you sit right on the beach for your evening meal.Breakfast was very good and cooked to order, we would certainly stay here again.
We enjoyed our stay here and the staff were wonderful. My only issue was that the bedding had an overwhelming smell of moth balls (pesticides) and we had to ask them to change the bedding.
The hotel is located right on the Unawatuna beach with a lot of options around. We booked the ocean view room and were kindly offered free upgrate to the top penthouse. The view is really awesome. The staff in the hotel is happy and attending as well.

Incompetant staff
I had booked a deluxe room for 2 nights and as hotel was full and they had over booked, they first tried to put me in another hotel which was on the land side further down the Weladewala road and i had to insist that they find me a room in booked hotel as we wanted to be buy the beach.
In the end after much argument, they made my friends Superior deluxe into a triple and i had to share with them. And on top of that they wanted to charge me $30 additional for sharing in a triple!!!
I will not be staying here again. Which is a shame as the room facilitites and location were pretty decent. It's not value for money tho and it's definitely not a 4 star hotel.
Note the owner was in the premises and didn't bother to get involved in any assisting at all.
