Non existent Hotel

We pitched up at a closed down hotel after a gruelling mountainbike race in 38 degrees celsius!! The Wartburg hotel has been closed since Nov 2019! We booked this last week and money was taken from my credit card. Luckily we found alternative accomodation 40km further. We would like our money back.

Disappointed but otherwise clean

It was clean and linen and bathroom were exceptionally clean. Pillows were excellent. Carpet looked a little grubby and the shower only trickled water that was either hot or cold. Needs attention. Annoying that there was no TV unless you had a voucher which we were not pre-warned about. We were just told our room was upstairs. With the rooms being identified by name only a map or board showing where the room was would have been helpful. Nobody offered to help with luggage. We were not informed of Wi Fi, Wi-Fi code or anything when booking in. Not even breakfast times.

Poor service at reception on arrival. Rooms clean, but old and fans don't work. Food from restaurant was very good.

Sibusiso Goes to Wartburg

Sadly i found a huge cockroach which i killed, left it ion the floor. Secondly the lack of communication between Hotels.com and the Hotel was discomforting on arrival as the voucher had not reached the hotel at my arrival time. The state of the mattress for the other bed was in the least shocking, the mattress needs to be replaced.

Everything was great except for the bathroom shower - the shower curtain did not reach to the level of the bath rim, and the water would change temperature without warning or touching the taps.

Overall good.

1. They need to have a wheel chair on site, as my elderly Grandmother had to walk very far to her room. 2 Staff need morning training in the breakfast restaurant, we were asked 3 times what we wanted & they still got it wrong. Overall had a great stay.
